Re: New 7 string flamenco
Lovely guitar. Very nice! I know what you mean about hard to get your head around as for quite a while you keep hitting the wrong strings, but after a bit you get used to it. Im used to sevens now except when you switch to a style of music you're not used to playing the seven plays with your head ag...

Re: 8 & 6 string - two more guitars finished this week
Thanks guys, both these guitars are fairly different than my usual builds, yet they've both got my styling in there somewhere.
The tele gets picked up in the weekend, the 8 string I'm still deciding what I plan to do with it. Ie keep or sell.

The wings on the back is the war medal he recieved. It was laser etched as you suspected. Only cost $20.00 so I can see a bit more laser etching in my future!Nick wrote:: The wings, are they laser etched ? It's one smart axe.

Re: All Australian timber 7 string
Thanks guys. It's probably one of my favorite builds to date, the guy who commissioned this build lives in NSW and will be collecting it in person soon, I'm located in VIC
Tod: yes, its one of the good (chunky) capacitors! It's a 0.022uf PIO cap. (PIO = paper dipped in oil)

Re: Trans Candy Red SS7
I'll try answer all the questions in order! This customer asked for standard tuning with a low B, however you can really do whatever you want. Pots are 500k CTS and they are Volume and tone with a three way mini toggle switch. The weight on this is average as the Fiji Mahogany is light, so you could...

Re: How cheap can manufacturers really be.
How cheap... I've seen a Chinese made electric guitar that when a modification/routing was performed it was discovered that the body was just white foam with a veneer over it! I've seen Chinese pricelists from the cheap knock off factory and they're selling complete, painted and assembled with parts...

Re: Local builder/video slideshow acoustic lap steel
BBK - you're right, they're all talented guys. Good at what they do. I'll be honest - I'm not an acoustic player myself, but I have admiration for anyone who does build them well (I've seen some dogs and I've seen some that are masterclass!) . I know all of the guitars I've played that David had bui...

I just stumbled across this slideshow which features a guitar built buy a friend of mine, so I thought I'd share as its a closer style than my work to what the majority on this site does and he's a fello Aussie doing what he loves. He makes fabulous guitars and is a genuine good bloke. Enjoy: https:...
