Coupling help

Hello everyone.

After nearly 10 years of service, my drum sander has blown the drive coupling.
It is the ubiquitous MS3140. I can get one from China through a distributor but at a price, and will take "weeks"

Anyone know of a local supplier?

Not sure on the veneer question. If you are thinking to overlay the guard? I think you may have problems with a clean edge.

Here are a couple of scratch plates I did. They are around 1.5 to 2.0 mm thick
I just used double sided tape. Dreadnaught is true oil finish ... Wando is nitro finish. No problems so far.

Re: Humidity in Perth - Garage building

Hello Mathew

When we started building down here in Albany, I went on the BOM site and worked out the average humidity for the year. Worked out to be around 50%

So ... building a guitar for Albany conditions, anything within 40 to 50 % range RH is what we go for.

Re: Two ukes

Hello Robert Thanks for the comment. I am happy with the sound and playability of both instruments. The myrtle uke has more of a traditional uke ping to the sound. Both have good (but different tone) and plenty of volume. I am lucky in that I have some great players and makers in town who turn up an...

Hello all. John got a job to build a biscuit uke. Customer supplied the tin (sans contents) Bisuit.jpg Sound ports.jpg Head stock.jpg So ... it plays well. It's good fun. Sounds like a cross between a banjo and a uke. Through an amplifier it ramps up enough to suit a metal player ... according to Jo...

Yes ... The customer had seen something like it on a Rickenbacker electric.
He liked the look of it rather that the traditional long headstock.
All credit to Maurice to nut it all out and execute the build.

Have you thought of tuning major and relative minor? For example G and Em. You can play a 12 bar sequence following the relative minor of each major.
Get a lefty to sit on the other side .....
