Re: Binding channel cutter

The tolerance and fit of "real metalworking" are addictive.Using a milling machine with a DRO for measurements making fret scales really makes it easy and fun.Same for drilling bridges for string spacings. You soon realise the need then for a small precision lathe to make the other parts to the same ...

Re: Cairns Ukulele Building Class 2014

Count me in, it's heaps of fun. We only do 8 till 5 (or a bit earlier) so there is plenty of daylight left to have a look around Cairns while your up there.Festival events usually start on the Friday and continue till Sunday.

By my reckoning at half the size it would take twice as long to build properly.Hats off to the maker.

Re: The Improved Rosette Cutter

Hi Craig. In answer to a few of your questions here is what I do to set the distances. I like to use a story stick or even better a piece of thin perpex to set out the design for the rosette and neatly use the tool to lightly scribe the layout lines . This becomes your master reference for resetting...

Re: The Improved Rosette Cutter

A limited number of Rosette and Circle Cutters are now available.Get in quick before BOB sensors this post for being a Blatant advertisement of a new product by an unscrupulous operator working from a home sweatshop.Lucky it has a beer fridge otherwise I wouldn't go over there.

Re: Extreme Closeups of the Cairns Ukulele Build

Hi Kevin, It might be interesting to have a closeup of both the blade that did the finishing and the finish it left on the timber surface.
Don't take this too personally but of course with my ridiculously sharp tools it may not be possible to see the tool marks with the instruments you have on hand.

Re: The Improved Rosette Cutter

The centre pin is adjusted using the sliding dovetail. It is a bit less fiddly than the original which had a slight problem of having to unscrew and screw the pin into the body for coarse adjustment. Using a story stick method makes it very easy to adjust this one to cut both the channel and the vene...

Re: The Improved Rosette Cutter

A few photos to explain the delay in the new tool. A total redesign but a much better tool as a result. I have to do the blades yet but will start them tomorrow. It will come with a knife blade , a 5mm wide inlay blade and a 30.thou. inlay blade ( for BWB lines). At this stage the final cost is not w...

Your not the only one Craig. It has so many adjusters it is confusing. Got to love it when the table adjustment for angles is marked down to 10 Minute intervals rather than degrees.

No Markus ,Russian is not something you could learn by looking at it.
Cost of the machine has no bearing on the price of the Rosette Cutters. It is just the ultimate sharpener for all tools.

Hi Everyone, No excuse but these photos are part of the hold-up on the rosette cutters. My new Universal Tool and Cutter Grinder.
