Re: First acoustic builds.

Those parts are coming together very neatly, thanks for sharing! I have got it real bad, is there medication for this Luthier illness? As stated before by Steve: no. But you can ease the pain by building more, buy more wood, buy more tools, and so on. Thanks Markus and thanks for the me...

Woodsy Hi Woodsy My bars are about 12mm x 5mm. I cut them about 15mm longer than the distance Between top and bottom plate. Just have...

Re: Old Smoke ( OM Qld maple)

Hi Ross, I used Stew mac Tabaco brown hand rubbed on the sides using Metho and a little shelac as a carrier. The Burst was the same stain mixed with Nitro and sprayed on , using a small gun with a 1mm tip, was a little sphincter cleanching as it was my first burst , but I am happy with it now. You ...

Nice looking guitar Paul.

Is the tobacco stain like the wattle stain?
I`m going to make one of my maple guitar b&s almost black. I have some wattle black stain I will experiment with.

They look nice Ross. Whats with the blurry look , is that a romantic setting on your camera ? Just kidding , I'm guessing mobile phone. I started building ukuleles to learn about building and developing my ideas and skill level as I`m a fitter and turner. Kinda got hooked. So now it`s time to build some acoustics. This is where I`m up to. Two are Qld Maple B&S and the other is Tassi Blackwood. Tops will be Sitka spruce. May put a ce...

I've got a 63mm head with the MItsubishi Aluminium cutter tips. It's a sight to behold to see feathery light chips flying off. Had the first real go at using the DRO today when making up a couple of bridges. It's really amazing how much backlash there are in the screws. You notice right away becaus...

That makes my potters wheel with a radius dish in it look positively anaemic Rob. But I'm not sure I could devote that much space to your beast. Milling machines are just so much fun to have in the shop. I'm amazed at what they can do that you just wouldn't have thought of before you had one. For i...
