Re: Edge Sander Opinions
We have this one at school from Gregories. Does everything you need. Motor and belt assembly tilt if you need an angle. The left hand end has an adjustable height table. You can swing the guard out of the way and use it like a bobbin sander. The dial wheel on the front is for adjusting table up and ...

Re: Quiet in here
That's what made me ask Steve, I can recognise most manufacturer's lugs (bit of an Anorak  ) and never seen these before. Nice job Ross, not many people could claim to have made everything on their drum (apart from the throwoff.....or did you make that as well? :D ) Thanks Nick and Ste...

Thanks Nick.Nick wrote:Nice snare Ross how did you do your bearing edges, router or by hand. Also were your lugs locally sourced?
I did bearing edges with router. The lugs I machined myself. Polished aluminium with brass inlay and polish brass vertical pins. Shell is Wattle.

I use lanolin on anything like that. You could use an eye dropper or something similar to apply.

That is awesome Allen. You must be getting close to running out of that Spruce. You've certainly created some unique instruments with it. Well done. How are you travelling with the cyclones hanging around up there?

I'm with Allen on the Hammer and Felder bandsaw. I've just installed a Felder FB510 at school. It is a great looking machine and the service from Felder Brisbane is second to none. I had a look at the Laguna and wasn't impressed compared to the above.

Over the last three years I have been showing students at the school my daughter goes to, how to paint and put an electric guitar together and learn about basic setups. The kids come in for an hour (before school), one day a week until they finish them. These are a kit build from Pitbull Guitars in ...

well done. you have done excellent job. hardwork can be seen through pics.. :cl Thanks for that. That is a beauty Ross. I like the body shape - small bodied and drop-shouldered. Re: Silver Wattle Classical Neck
soulman, can you post any photos of your black wattle for ukelele necks? I have a black wattle in my yard, 2 years old, but I think they die between 10-20 years. so I found it interesting you used it for an instrument. Wattles = Acacia, and there are over 700 varieties in Australia from scrubs to b...

I operate a sandblasting/soda blasting business and have blasted wood. Soda is not as harsh as garnet. However it all gets down to pressure, media type, technique, hardness of wood and affect you want to achieve.

Hi Allen.
Another beauty. Well done.
Does The Maple Have a bright sound. I'm assuming It wouldn't be as warm as say a Blackwood body.

Re: Silver Wattle Classical Neck
I've used Black Wattle for ukuleles(including necks) and a stave snare drum. I figured it is all in the same Acacia family as is Blackwood. I guess it is determined by the density and weight of the actual piece of wattle you have in your hands. All wood is different. You never know if you don't have...
