Hi Peter and welcome
Nice tip, I have used my kids white pencils so far but after your post I am really annoyed with my partner as she has worked in a Art Supply place for 15 years. Hmmmm or should I blame myself for never asking.

I didn't want to be the deliverer of bad news but thought you would want to know. I once was installing 12" x 4" Oregon beams, I grabbed a few Labourers to help me lift the first one into place, couldn't believe my eyes when I got it into place and found it to be 100mm short, the labourers had a lau...

Well that made me laugh, one of those "oh my God who is this guy" type of laughs. I'm with Martin except it wouldn't be a neck, I was thinking more along the lines of a set of tuners, some un-worked bone and maybe a bit of MOP cause a man of his tastes would definitely want the one with the inlay an...

It is looking good Alan and I like the way you have finished the end of the fret board. While looking at the fret board end and contemplating variations on the theme I noticed that you may want to re-check you calculation on the 18th fret, unless it is the photo (maybe my $10 glasses) or some peculi...

Hi Hip Looks great mate. I like the one piece sides and looks like the top is not joined either. That last post states "Just prior to the first coat of Wattyl Tung Oil" so I am assuming you oil it before you glue the bridge. Do you mask the bridge position or are you confident that you can scrape en...

Is there something wrong with the original fret board other than the fact that someone has started to remove the fret board. Band Saw sounds like a narly method to me. The way I would remove the fret board is.... 1. remove the neck from the body 2. use two blocks of wood to support the neck ( fret b...

Hi Richard It would seem a bit of a waste to have to scrap that Tele neck. I would suggest (just incase you are not familiar with the beast) that if the borer is still active then to wrap the neck in plastic and get it into a freezer, industrial is best but domestic will do, then if you can live wit...

Hi and welcome Stimpy Is it Stimpy Ray Vaughn? :D I would be happy to do it for you but Darwin is a long way from Adelaide. Try the local music shops and ask to speak to the person who does the repairs to see if you can gauge if you would be happy leaving your Strat in their hands. Alternatively if ...

G'day Seeaxe and G'day Dave. I have noticed while searching for bits of wood to build instruments that there seems to be a lack of woods from N.Z. Maybe you guys could have a forage around the forest floor and a bit of a experiment to see what you could come up with over there "World Woods in Color"...

Thanks for going to the time and effort to Photo document this build Dave. It is great to see how differently people do things from the way I do them. I would hope to hear all these Ukuleles that are being built at the moment. It was 20 years ago that I saw a 26 piece Ukulele Orchestra in London yet...

I am enjoying all this Ukulele building and have now started thinking about making one for myself. What defines a "Concert Ukulele" Allen. Also how do you go with humidity in Townsville. I was recently given a Bandsaw, it's a 12" job, needs work, so far about $250 maybe $350 when I'm done. I can't w...

I was curious to see the device that had helped with your belly troubles and was surprised to see what it was when I went to the Stewy Mac site.... I'm not 100% sure but I think this idea was developed to try to create a soundboard with less phase troubles and therefore increase volume by way of sto...

Hi sorry to jump in on this thread but would anyone have any drawings of radius templates for fingerboards as I'm just making a fret press and would like to make some cowels! Also it will help me see what different radius look like, and decide which feels the most comfortable. If any one can help I...

True Kim, if you have one you need to look at 4inch grinders as disposable. I keep a few of them now to save changing the tools I use with them and at $100 each for Makita they are a very low cost and versatile tool. This might help with a Stroke Sander description James. http://www.anzlf.com/phpBB2...

I am with Kim on that, I bought a Random Orbital as a extra sander but after using it I don't pick up the Orbital anymore. "De-Nibbing" sound like a interesting pass time Stu. I will be looking for a "Hookit Backing Pad" now, nice tip, cheers. Festool rhymes with drool if you're on a low budget but ...

Looks very sound Craig. A little bit of flex in that set up with the bearings looks like they will hold it down a uneven surface well. I am curious about the material that you describe as "a durable thin work surface". I use modern Laminex/Formica with its textured surface as it provides a slippery ...

I use a studio called "ACID Pro 4.0" it works well but its maybe 5 -6 years old. I picked it up on P to P software and imagine it is still floating around. I don't know "Audacity" but I imagine it is similar and may be more convenient. Acid comes with a Wave to Mp3 converter and you can record as ma...
