No Sunk stripe

It's front mounted under the fingerboard. I guess I could always turn it into a rear mounted neck as an option which will save mucking around with the fingerboard.

rod or nut

It's a fender with the philips head down at the body end.

I 90% sure, as I took the nut out and tried it on another neck and it worked all right. Tried another nut on the stuff neck and it doesn't do anything.

I really don't want to remove the fingerboard, dig out the old rod etc etc etc.

Thanks.

Truss Rod Rescue Kit

Hello. Just wondering what other alternatives there are out there to fix a stripped truss rod. I see Stew Mac has this: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Truss_rods/Special_tools_for:_Truss_rods/1/Truss_Rod_Rescue_Kit/Instructions/I-5680.html But it's sooooo expensive! Does anyone out there have a cheaper...

Update

Took the old fingerboard off, couldn't save it.

Sanded it down with a big long sanding block. Now it's ready for the new fingerboard.

Fingers crossed.

Neck Problem

Thanks for everyone's comments. The previous owner said the neck was twisted or warped but I really don't think it was. I will take the fingerboard off, don't think I can save it. I have a compound ebony board from Stew Mac ready to go on. I'll keep everyone posted. It's real shame but it doesn't lo...

Pictures

Here are some pictures of the mess I inherited. The person started from the 22nd fret end and it's pretty clean until the 8th fret where he's forced it and there a slight crack. Then he proceeded to hack saw (I presume) from the nut end. What do you all think? Re-glue or replace? http://www.anzlf.co...

yeah a bit different

Quite like the finish can't wait for it to arrive, just paid for it. Got it for a "almost too good to be true"price, that's why I was a little worried.

So Gratful to everyone.

Excellent advice for so many kind contributors--Thanks heaps! I will post photos when I get back home, before starting any work on the neck. Presently I am in the Australian Outback and the neck is at home in NZ.

Thanks for all the suggestions

Thank you all for making me feel welcome. I was going to take the nut off and carefully bandsaw the fret board off (lenghtwise) then plane/sand and put a new compound board on. I have already bought the ebony board from StewMac. I have done refrets to varying degrees of success before so I am quietl...

Hello everyone this is my first post here. I have a Fender Stratocaster neck (Artist series SRV) the previous owner had started taking the fingerboard off. I am looking for someone either in Adelaide or NZ (as I travel back and forth) to fix it for me. Any takers?? Or else I'll have to give it a go ...
