Re: Nitro in aerosol in NZ

Hi Guys Awesome responses, thanks. I should clarify my Dad lives in Hawks Bay not Auckland, I think I confused the issue when I noted the guy in Tamaki as I grew up in AK many a year ago, and vaguely remember hearing something about someone out that way who'd painted guitars. I will look up the tuto...

Re: Nitro in aerosol in NZ

Hi Mark Thanks for the suggestion, it was actually the first thing I suggested to my Dad as I was thinking along similar lines for my first build because Tru or Danish oil are inexpensive and fairly easy to apply. But he'd seen one of those Gibson coffee table books when he was visiting me over the ...

Re: Nitro in aerosol in NZ

Awesome, thanks Richard! I think the Dulux rattle can Nitro will be the way to go, I assume they do solid colours as well though? I should have mentioned my Dad's building a solid body and I plan to build solid bodies when I get back too. We both wanted to use Nitro as my Dad and I think it ages nic...

Nitro in aerosol in NZ

Hey guys its been a while :D I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, I did try and search it but my google-fu seems to be lacking these days. Anyway its basically in the title, are their paint suppliers who sell Nitro paint and lacquer for guitar finishing in NZ and in Aerosol? My old man is...

Re: Baritone Electric Neck Template

Yeah thanks guys, I will do so when I come to coming up with plans for the SG. It probably means I may post a few more annoying questions :D But I get what you are saying. Its going to be a bit of a transition because for my first build I plan to clone one guitar I already have, which won't really r...

Re: Baritone Electric Neck Template

Yeah I consulted with a couple guys on another forum and they took me through the process of using fretfind to work out the neck template which is basically what you have suggested. I'm very new to building mate, and haven't touched wood since high school+/- 15 years ago so I'm still getting to grip...

Baritone Electric Neck Template

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone had a template for a Baritone Electric neck, or advice on how to cobble one together from the current plans we have. I'm helping a mate with an SG build and he wants to make a 27" neck for it. We have some wonderful blueprints for everything but the neck shaft, an...

Re: Getting tone woods in NZ

Christian and Nick, thanks a bunch for the help and being welcoming. I need all the help I can get with that and have a thesis I need to finish first :? I'm looking forward to coming back actually, and would be nice when I do to eventually talk shop while on the same time/maybe in person. But back o...

Re: Getting tone woods in NZ

Hey guys, Ben's the legal name although Yeti's actually a nickname most of my mates call me anyway. I'm used to big international forums and have been out of the antipodes for almost a decadeā€¦ I forget how approachable we generally are. I suspect when I finally move back it will be a nice change. Th...

Getting tone woods in NZ

Hey Guys This is my first post here and I really hope Im putting this in the right place. Some forums are really strict, and others more relaxed. Basically the story is this: I've been living abroad for almost a decade and only recently got up the nerve to start building guitars. I'm moving back to ...
