Re: The Little Box that Sings

Yes, that is the one. I bought the digital version that included a link to download a DVD image that contained demonstrations that illustrated his work in more detail. Hardcopies included the disc I believe. The text itself has background history and provides more detail into his work as well which ...

Re: The Little Box that Sings

Here is another video for those so inclined. I searched high and low for this since I first saw it on PBS in 1981.
A book was released that dives deeper into his research shortly after his passing in 2001. I believe it is still available on Amazon.

Re: Sanding belt cleaners

I had a look at simple green as well. Seems it shares some of the ingredients as CMT. I think I might give it a whack the next time I clean a belt Water 7732-18-5 C9-11 (?) alcohols ethoxylated 68439-46-3 Sodium citrate 68-04-2 Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate (also listed as Tetrasodium N,N-bis(carb...

Re: Sanding belt cleaners

Years ago I came across an article about using laundry detergent to soak/clean sanding belts. I tried it and had good success. As I recall I mixed a 60% water and 40% detergent. (We were using Tide liquid at the time) Basically used a small jar and coiled the belt like Dan. I soaked mine for a coupl...

Re: Cook Woods

Hi there Liam. I've purchased wood from Cook through Ebay, mostly dimensioned lumber . Most of the transactions have been smooth and the wood depicted was what I recieved. Had one run in with them when they "lost" the actual piece I bought and substituted with another that was so surfaced checked it...

Re: ANOTHER big earthquake in Christchurch

Been following this from last night. I hope all are well and safe over there. Sounds like some communication lines are starting back up, that seems a good sign and will help with response efforts. As a side note, University buildings are generally built to high standards code wise. May not hear from...

El Cheapo scaper

I had a few trashed utility knife blades and decided to give one a handle. Took me all of 10 minutes. I plan on shaping a couple more for specific jobs. EZ sharpening and the blades I have are decent steel and roll a hook quite nice.

Re: Wild Wood Gallery - Inspiration

Wow, lots of great looking stuff there.
This is some walnut I found when I first moved here many years ago. Some gunstock company felled a HUGE walnut.
I grabbed some of what was left over. Lots of bowls and boxes. I use this for pick guards and headstock veneers.

Wikileaks will be declared a terrorist organization if they can figure out how to do it while at the same time not implicate the New York Times - which has not only partnered with Wikileaks to do some of the redacting, and has published the new leaks, but the Times also has the distinction of being...

Im surprised you got one as well. Lets them know what you think and they may be toting lost transaction fees. A question for the yanks. Looking good there.
Hey Martin are you using the scalpel to cut all the way through the wood or using a jewlers saw to cut the areas out and following up with the scalpel for clean up?
Looks like a good job for some nice tunes and and maybe a glass of something to ease the nerves.....
