Re: Fighting back against greedy retailers

Things may have changed since I last imported from the US but from my experiences a few years ago bringing studio gear ( always through the postal systems, USPS ---> AustPost) and approx., 14 guitars (always through DHL), I've never encountered ANY undue/unwarranted additional fees, whereas, I've he...

Re: Factory machined or Handcrafted?

Seb, Pitch correction has been around for quite a long time now both in recording and live performance environments. Similarly, in recording, it is now commonplace to correct timing issues until the human element disappears, in both live and recording situations "real" drums are only triggering samp...

Looks like an interesting line up and it's good to see Kristina Olsen and Peter Grayling still collaborating...............I did live sound for them locally back in the mid '90s..............both very nice people. 8)

Re: small router/end mill bits

I long ago lost track of how much gear for our studio (ie: mics, rack units, etc., etc.) has come from the States via USPS........never had a problem. I looked at Fedex and UPS a couple of times but their pricing and dubious local delivery didn't win me over.

This is the setup I made a few years ago. Based on info from JoeWoodworker's site........pump is a Reischle-Thomas, main reservoirs are 2 X 50ltr compressor tanks, etc., etc.

Just to clarify.....the milled glass fibres (filaments) in that pic are nominal 12 micron. Our raw material starts out at >1mm in length and I mill it down to <0.5mm. A typical 2" long strand of chopped strand F/glass is made up of approx., 100 filaments. I'd suspect that the CF filaments are of a s...

Will, I'd be wary of that LH Maton.........the seller says he's changed it to RH but makes no mention of what has been done to the nut slots, the p/up system is old and could be problematic. Personally, I feel that the prices being asked for these older Matons are too much, you can buy a much newer ...

The toxicity problem with epoxy is the "epoxide rings" which need to be "broken" to negate the toxicity/sensitization issue. It is essential, that when mixing the two components, that ALL "epoxide rings" have been exposed to the hardener which "breaks" the rings during the chemical process. One acce...

Mike, When either applying veneer to or making (ply) drum shells from scratch I've always used Techniglue. Veneering shells was always done with a vac bag with no problems, just leave it under vacuum for as long as possible (approx., 24 hours). If your veneers are the usual 0.6mm then watch for the ...

That's ridiculous..............we've brought a number of guitars(with cases) in from the US and not one's shipping cost more than ~$300 with DHL, ie: 24 hours ground to ground.
