Hi all,
Thought I'd pitch in...
Nothing motivates me more than a clean and organized workspace.
However if anyone has any motivation tips on cleaning and organizing I'm open to that
Cheers

Re: Fret Clamping Pliers
I’ve been told it makes for less fret leveling. Before the fretboard is on the neck If you fret with a flat foot and tune the mechanism to just right they’ll all be the same.
Makes perfect sense to me so I’ll keep doing it till I find something better....

Fret Clamping Pliers
Hi all,
Seen this on Pinterest and thought I’d share. Looks like it’d only be beneficial with the fretboard off the neck and not the way they’ve got it...

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Thanks for the encouragement guys. The boys down Albany are really helpful. Pete and Maurice are real gentlemen. Could not have built my guitar without their help. Yeah the guys in Albany have been very generous and helpful...between them, the forum, and Pinterest it might even look alright when don...

Just waiting on the humidity before I can go any further on it. Rim assembly coming together slowly also.

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
More progress on the fretboard. Jarrah bindings and Mulga inlay at the 12th fret. Was planning on doing just two dots but I messed up a hole... I like it better with the inlay anyhow. Met up with some Albany luthiers today to put the frets in, Evo Gold. C9F11B46-2598-4D82-A344-D68AF5B24CED.jpeg C7C8...

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Hi all, Sorry for the lack of progress lately, life gets in the way over Christmas.... Anyway I’m back into it now doing work on the fretboard every night. Hope to get the back braced on the weekend, and the arm bevel block glued in. CA06D530-5A02-43DF-99A0-A87B578F88AD.jpeg 975BB562-0430-43C0-A5B1-...

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Thanks Ross,
The plan suggests 25’ top and 15’ back.
I made my dish with the online calculator @25’
which I’m using for both top and back.

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Bit of an update so far. Bought some evo gold fretwire, some titebond 1, Bone blanks and a few other bits and pieces, so should be moving a little quicker now... Fretboard is slotted and tapered. 20 frets, 14 to body, and 633mm scale. I scribed the spacings to nearest 0.1mm. No issues save fret 10 b...

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Yeah that’s what I meant, thanks.
Good articles. after seeing that barrel bolt one I’m sold. Would never use the other kind that go straight into the end grain...
Also I’m about to order a hotrod trussrod from stewmac as I hear their straight forward to use.
Anyone had issues with them?

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
That looks like it will be a little beauty. The issue with ebony is that weighs a lot more than equivalent timbers and (to paraphrase Gore/Gilet) the mass of the bridge has a big impact on the sound of the guitar with lighter being better. I agree ebony looks great so if you use it try to find the ...

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Hmm yes, the neck joint.
Do I need to sort all that out now before the neck block is in or is it easier to cut it at a later stage?
Won’t be going dovetail I reckon.

Thanks Mark, lots of insight there.
Will keep the humidity in mind each step also.

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
2) Ebony makes for a rather heavy bridge....I prefer rosewood or if using CF I use blackwood or walnut to keep weight down with the CF adding stiffness. Thanks Martin I really like look of the Ebony bridges I’ve seen on other guitars. I’ve heard bridgeplate species changes sound too so don’t what w...

Re: 00 Acoustic build thread.
Thanks Mark, Titebond lll (green) is what I’ve been using so far, the gorilla is just for jigs etc. But I’ll try find some of the red. Peghead but haven’t got any tuners yet. Not sure about scale at this stage, probably 14 fret now that I’m not doing a cutaway. yet to get cluey about all that. frets...

00 Acoustic build thread.
Hi all. Rather than filling the forum with all my First-builder questions...I thought I’d start a thread on the whole guitar. I’ve downloaded the 00 size plan from Grellier and am “customising” it to my preferences. It will be Sitca Spruce top Mahogany back Sides are either mahogany or rosewood. Mah...
