Re: Predicting Panel Mass SS - Lookover

Hi Trevor! I think I have the predicted panel mass formulas worked out. The predicted masses in my table are half of what is in Table 4.5-3 but maybe that is because those masses are for a full panel and my calculations are for a half panel? Also, I noticed the density is slightly off in my table co...

Re: Calculation of brace Young's Modulus (eq. 4.4-4)

I'm just figuring this out as well. I just made this little chart and I think it looks ok though I'm not sure if 14 Nm2 is too high for spruce of these dimensions. Any thoughts?

Re: Measuring Elastic Constraints - Lookover

Hello everyone!

I think I got the equation! It was mostly keeping all the numbers in meters and kg. Can someone confirm with me that this all looks correct? Now to calculate the predicted mass! Exciting!!!! Yeahoo!!!

John from Canada!!! eh!!!!

Re: Measuring Elastic Constraints - Lookover

Oh yes, totally! I enjoy figuring it all out and really appreciate that Trevor points out areas that need work. I'm hoping to "get it" in the next couple of weeks because I would like to get this guitar done for the customer for Christmas 2018! LOL....

Re: Measuring Elastic Constraints - Lookover

Hi Trevor! Thankyou for looking over these calculations! I changed the grams to kilograms. I attempted to change the calculations for F long but when I reduce the power to equal 1.0E+10 it changes the target thickness. How did you set up the formula in excel to calculate F long? I have attached a sc...

Predicting Panel Mass SS - Lookover

Hello again everyone! Can someone confirm that I am doing this calculation correctly? I have used lexan as a half template and found a piece of lexan "in the square" to calculate the area. Density = Mass of lexan square / LWH of lexan Square Density = 3.156kg / 86.2cm x 52cm x 0.59cm = .00119kg/cm3 ...

Measuring Elastic Constraints - Lookover

Hello everyone! Can someone look over my data and see if I'm doing everything right. I have attached photos of the board (#2 Honduran Mahogany) the FRC's for the frequencies and the excel sheet. I am not sure if I am reading the FRCs correctly. Basically I am just referencing the elastic constraints...

Waterfall Spectrogram Program

Hello everyone! Does anyone know a good waterfall specrogram program for Iphone? I'm hoping to create images like the ones in the book. I just made this really great sounding parlour guitar with Engelmann top that has some really nice overtones and I want to see if I can repeat that in the future. I...

Determining Panel Mass on Target Plat Thickness Chart

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and am very excited about it! I live in Saskatchewan, Canada and starting a 7th acoustic guitar. I have journeyed completely through Trevor's design book four times now and it's an absolute pleasure! Does anyone know the formula for determining panel mass on th...
