Re: Go Bars
The rods will come to $89.00, the shipping will be $65.00 for 100 x 3/16th inch diam rods...without postage around Aus (around $8.80 for express post with a parcel size ) to respective people and without end cap bumpers...So it would probably come out to be like 46-55 bucks each including approx 15 ...

4.5mm is probably a little bit on the thin side...I was just going off the LMI and Stew Mac standard of approx 4.75mm (3/16) and seeing if i could get a better deal. Cheers for the advice. How tall is your deck Jim and how long have you cut your dowel>?

Re: Go Bars
Well the place Lillian suggested looks very promising as the shipping for 48 rods is 55 dollars...just have to see what the fee is for having them cut down to 39 inches so (so that they can fit in Aus Post and International air freight parcels)

Re: Go Bars
I just had a search through the go bar related posts and sent an email off to Lillian's suggestion of GoodWinds.com to see if they can do a large international order. Only problem with that is that the rods are 48 inch and would need to be cut in half...But they are about 89 cents for 2 rods (withou...

Anyone in need of some cheeky 3/16th inch fibre glass rods? I am looking at acquiring some (25 or so) for my first build. Figured it would be cheaper to get them in bulk (100 or so)...unfortunately no places are open until the 27th so getting a quote has been impossible

Re: wipe on polyurethane finishes
See Liam I have had no luck with the old HHG in terms of getting a perfect centre seam for my Tops and Backs...And that join on your Uke is damn near invisible. I changed back to Titebond after some mucking around and bob is your uncle...Perfect Seam first time might just use HHG for setting the nec...

Re: Some Cheeky Fixes
In LATE response to your question the myrtle covers half a biscuit. I got a table manufacturer to join the two pieces of huon pine with a jointer and he insisted upon have two biscuits in the join. I told him to put them 100 mm apart in the centre so they would not intrude upon the tail or the neck ...

Thickness Advice
What would be a good thickness for a Tassie Blackwood Back on a Martin acoustic? I just measured the top thickness of a Suzuki factory model (ply with lacquer and it was 2.99mm- 3.00mm) Should i stick with this thickness for the lutz spruce top? around 2.90mm-2.95mm? It will have the standard X Brac...

There is also the sleazy alternative...where you tell him you have got enough wood...and send him pictures of the wood which you have...What?

Hide Glue Advice
Howdy guys...been trying out some hide glue on some scrap pieces of timber by following an instructional thread which Matthew posted a while back and a few you tube tutorials. I have had to undo the joins several times due to the join not being perfect (the join line before glue is applied was perfe...
