Re: Strat.

Thanks Mark, it's a nice red ( pearl ) paint, really common on Mazdas. I thought I'd go with a custom shape for the head stock to give it some originality. Wayne

Strat.

Only my 2nd electric guitar, the 1st I made for myself about 10 years ago. The colour is soul red a really common colour on Mazdas, I was going to use candy apple red but it was to expensive around $500 just for enough to do the guitar. It has Slider p/ups they're replicas of the ones Jimi Hendrix u...

Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.

I print my own labels on parchment paper from officeworks, I think they look fine, you can get different colours, it's way nicer than just normal print paper. Wayne

Re: Another amp

Hi Rod, the guy that built the amp did the holes and lettering. I made the face plate gave it to him and after he drilled and printed it he gave it back to me to lacquer. He has a process of printing the lettering on the stuff used to cover school books that has adhesive on one side then he irons it...

Another amp

I've had the cabinet for this one finished for a while, I've been waiting for the amp to be built, I picked it up today and assembled it.
It's art deco style made from walnut and maple ( with some birds eye maple as well. )

Looking good Wayne nice ,neat and clean inside the box, looks like it'll be a winner when it's finished. What's the tape you use for the bindings?

Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.

Looks thicker in the photo Pete, 2mm should be ok. When you want to add a photo go under the dialogue box click on attachments you should be able to work the rest out, just remember they have to be under a certain size. I resize mine with a program called fotosizer it's free and easy to use.Wayne

Hi Pete, I'm no expert on ukes but the bridge patch looks really big, how thick is it? Just my observation. ( not a criticism ).

Re: What am I doing here?

Hi Gavin. I tend to agree with Richard, he makes a good point, I wish I had that advice on my first guitar, it turned out really well but I'd used 2nd grade timbers, it's still a nice guitar but could have been a lot better.

Looks great Rod. Is the lamination under the bridge for looks or did you need to make it a little taller?

Re: Hello everyone I am Pete

Pretty sure most guys on the forum ( if not all )will share their knowledge, especially if you ask specific questions, the guys will chip in with info with just about anything luthier related. What Martin says about the paddle pop stick is how I've cut the majority of my sound holes.

Re: Hello everyone I am Pete

Hello Pete, as long as you're not a threat you're ok here  Just build how you feel comfortable, I cut all my neck mortise and tenon joints by hand and sound holes by hand, other guys use jigs that's ok whatever works. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the great introduction.

Re: New build advice, on plans I've drawn.

I always keep an eye on ebay, you can pick up some nice sets for a reasonable price ( sometimes ). We've got some good suppliers here in Aust. maybe check them out. I haven't used Bubinga but I've heard the figured stuff is really hard to work with so if you're going for a cutaway on your first buil...
