Re: Bandsaw problems
You are right, they are pretty much the same thing, including the Jet and Sheppach. I want to buy a new one to replace my hand built and was thinking about the hammer n4400, I think someone on the forum got one recently, not sure. http://www.felder-group-australia.com/au-en/video/hammer-n4400.html Col

Re: Tenor Uke - Native Olive
If you don't require the old bridge, then one of the easiest ways of getting this one off is to plane it down so there is just a thin veneer of wood left glued to the top. Then with just a tiny bit of heat and spatula the rest will come off without any drama at all. Thanks mate I will do that. Col

Looks awesome mate! What timber did you go for on the neck, rosette, bindings etc? and what method did you use to attach the neck?

Re: Tenor Uke - Native Olive
Thanks for the comments guys. Great looking Uke Col. Congratulations. How did you find the Native Olive to work with? Cheers Al It bent easily, but it went black as buggery and I had to soak it a couple of times in a bath of oxalic acid to get it right again - I think I may have used too much water ...

Tenor Uke - Native Olive
Hi This is my second instrument, which went a lot better than the first, but was not without it's problems. Nearly all of it was put together with HHG apart from the fretboard and bindings; I really liked using it and didn't even use clamps for most of it, will definitely use it again. It is built t...

I just got a pound of uke wire delivered from Stewmac (0764-LB) which is 35 pieces or 96ft, for $50, enough to last me for a long while. Is that what you were asking?

Re: .070" (1.78mm) Bearing for Weiss binding
I started routing my Weissenborn for binding today and I'm missing the most accurate bearing size. I've got one too big, and one too small - it's always the way! Although I can make do, I'm asking if anyone can lend me a .070" (1.78mm) bearing (Stewmac Catalogue Number 1298-070 ). I only need it fo...

Re: Build Thread: 000 Koru kahikatea/Heart Rimu.
Two questions, Christian. 1. Do you add linings to the top and back? seems a really small glue area to hold a vibrating top.... 2. Is your side bender using light bulbs? And, if so, how many. I've got 4 outdoor spots at 150watts, that get hot as blazes, and I'm not using for anything. I'd have a go...

Re: Build Thread: 000 Koru kahikatea/Heart Rimu.
Hi Nick, I'm not sure what you mean by the difference in the profiles?. The top and back are radiused as per a normal build. the side, back and top templates are exactly the shape of the finished guitar. I start at 3mm thick for both the top and back, after mitring I thickness according to stiffness...
