Seb, Most of the famous makers introduced their own variations on Torres' designs....eg number of fan braces, slanting tone bars, carrying outter fan braces through to waist area etc. A Vanilla Torres is one with 7 fan braces, upper and lower cross braces and an upper transverse brace. Grant what youre after is technical grade or IMS meths. The stuff you get from Mitre 10 is denatured and contains a certain amount of water. Classical number 3. Im not adventurous when it comes to classicals...at the moment Im concentrating on basic building skills and comparing different tops. No 1 was Sitka, No 2 was Lutz and this one is Englemann. No 2 had Hauser style bracing and hasnt yet been strung up....it needs bridge attached.

Did jack sh*t this weekend.....glued in two braces on a classical and spent the rest of the weekend pulling out weeds in the garden. Watered the garden on Sunday morning and on Sunday afternoon it rained.

Looking good there Dom.

I notice youre using that blue coloured non slip matting. I was just reading a post over on the OLF where someone had problems with silicon based mold release agent left on some of these matts causing problems with finishing. Lillian I think put up the post.

With all due respect if Alvarez are selling "hand made" guitars for $299US then I dont know how the hell they hope to make a profit out of the exercise.

Sometimes I wonder who has the bigger obsession about shagging sheep.....you Ozzies certainly spend alot more time talking about it then the poor old Kiwis.
