Re: Vendors and Suppliers

Hello there, Tonewood in Australia is available but you need to seek it out yourself. Times have changed dramatically with many tonewoods from overseas not permitted into the Australia or out with the introduction of new wood laws. Since covid19 there are many in the tonewood business that did not s...

Hi Stanley,
Did you use carbon fiber stiffeners in the neck?
That may be the issue if you haven't.

Re: Indian Rosewood Bridges coming off Cedar and Pine tops

Welcome to our forum. Indian Rosewood is a self oiling wood. In other words, if you sand the bottom of the bridge and leave it a few days the joint will most probably fail due to the oil the rosewood secrets. So what I do is sand the bottom of the bridge and then glue up straight away. I did just th...

Re: Bending Irons

Hi Peter, I still do all my wood bending with a Stew Mac electric iron I bought many years ago. As Mark said it is a satisfying job bending by hand. It takes a little practice but it is worth the effort. A tip for cutaway bending is to immerse the cutaway end of the side into boiling water and leave...

Re: My shellac looks like gravy

Sounds to be like you shellac flakes, granuals, beads or what ever dry form you used is old stock or it have been subjected to moisture so your brew has not dissolved correctly. If it is a milky colour that's your problem for sure.
Good luck.
Merry Christmas

G'day Colin and welcome to the forum. I live in Townsville and have the opposite issue with humidity to you. Up here 60% is ok as long as the instrument is going to live here other wise, I use a dry box. The box is big enough to lay a dready out in with cam clamps on for example if you are going to ...

I would also be interested in if the sound port makes a difference to the player experience sound wise. Beautiful guitar Way...

Well I must admit at turning 70 next year I have had these thoughts regard what to do with the stash and the hand tools. Hi Jim,
That is such a lovely little guitar. 0 size guitars are my favourite guitar to play as they are so intimate in size and usually have long sustain and a tone of their own. Great work mate.

Re: It seems quiet in here

Thanks Dave. The first Classical used a strut pattern similar to yours. The other three are Neil Ostberg "La Suprema" Torres Plan copies one with a short scale and two with 650mm scale which I prefer. The FE 19 is a smaller body shape to the FE 114. The plan was very helpful. It was a great learning...
