Re: Another dead modem

The Billion modem range have always been rock solid for me and many others Bob. Have a look at Warcom to see if any ring ur bell. http://www.warcom.com.au/shop/browse/adsl-modem-router/Billion/ Cheers Kim I agree. I changed to Billion after continually struggling with Westnet's BOB2. The Bob2 was c...

Re: How come Amercia can freely sell brazilian rosewood

I got some BRW from a yard in Melbourne in '91. Can't remember the name of the supplier since I was staying at a mate's place who happened to be a cabinet-maker and took me round all the good woody places. Anyway, for some reason I stored it in the roof of my home but didn't retrieve it after my mar...

Re: Scraper Burnisher

This is an issue I've struggled with for years. I did buy the Veritas burnisher but never got good results with it. My wife's uncle runs a 10mm dill bit along the scraper. I tried this today but haven't used it yet; waiting for the binding glue to set on a Tele. Hope to give it a go tomorrow.

Re: Are there any guitar builders close to Palmerston North,

Hi Richard. Regarding the dishes I used an orbital sander on 17mm ply. Went a little deeper than I should've and filled it with a thin gyprock base coat mixed with a bit of Bondcrete then carefully sanded again to correct(ish) contour, and sealed with diluted Bondcrete. Just stuff I have lying aroun...

I use mono-goggles (Ski goggles) which have a good snug seal around my nose etc, so they don't fog up. And I can wear my glasses under them if needed G'day Ken , I can see why you call yourself "Crafty Fox " You must really make a spectacle of yourself  Luckily I'm not old enough that I need g...

Re: Are there any guitar builders close to Palmerston North,

Hi Richard, I've recently completed my first acoustic build, and I used the Kinkead book, and I believe that other members of this forum have also been inspired by his book. I'm very happy with the result. I'm too far away to duck round with my OM, though I'm happy to email you any pics. I also went...

Re: Timber supplier: Brisbane

Indeed WA is spoilt for quality wood. Tim Spittle of Australian Tonewoods is only a few K's out from Perth's CBD in Bassendean. Like most tonewood dealers it's always better to give him a call to find out what is current, but the website usually has something to stir the blood all the same and prov...

Re: Genesis of the term "F-hole".....

I've only done it once, on a Thinline Tele. I shaped the plastic with a heat gun and every time I got one end right I worked on the other end only to see the first end straighten itself out again. It was a fight to the death but I won eventually and I'm pleased with it. I'll use timber binding next ...

I also understand Shellite to be Naptha. I use it immediately prior to all lacquer coats after any light sanding just to make sure everything is clean.
