Re: First Classical

China is a modern guitar builder's friend, search guitar Bridge tie on ebay! Scrape off the premade ones wood tie plate and glue on a bone one! Basically for $10-15 you have a professional quality bridge, and less work for the same result.

Re: First Classical

I just take the underside down a fraction, and slightly round it to match the slightly domed soundboard. Then take the saddle lip down a bit as I only do 10 or 11mm saddle height for classical and 7mm for flamenco. Mine are 18 - 20gram for classical or 16g for flamenco, and I don't use a bridge plat...

Re: First Classical

No point in building a rosette when you can get an exact Fleta replica. The premade Indian Rosewood bridges, I buy them but modify them to weigh 19gram with bone on the string tie instead of maple, you will never have a failure with them. I would say to anyone always be careful with the hauser plans...

Re: Another not a guitar

For cases, I say look to China, and rigid polyfoam, they protect best. ie, check alibaba, and contact companies direct with your specs, ask for Swiss made waterproof zips for an added bonus. it will cost you 1/4th price with orders of multiples. You can also get label imprinted.

Are they your rosettes?
Not my rosettes, working through a batch of replicas, Bouchet, Fleta, Torres and other classical builders from old glory days of classical guitar building.

Englemann, Lutz, 50% of available Sitka, Apalachian Red Spruce, Colorado Blue Spruce... all these 5 North American Spruce are as good as traditional Euro Spruce (overall), not enough makers rank it because they don't try them! Maple is in the ballmark of Rosewood type weight and stiffness, but so ar...

Re: Nice bit of Gidgee

The guitar looks beautiful, Would also like to hear a sound sample. I have a same cut bit of Gidgee from same log from Curly ebay. thinned down to 2mm, like traditional Rosewood, yet this wood it is sooo floppy across grain, unlike stiff rosewood, and also it is soooo heavy.. I think it has only 30-...

If it sounds as good as euro spruce.... well... thats very interesting and iā€™d be keen to give it a go on an upcoming build...
they dont all but, if you know the feel of good spruce and the taptone it has, youll find a good piece of bunya. gotta judge each piece on their own.

Bunya/Sheaok - best AU woods Classical

Thought it would be good to post this one here, as its got aussie timbers. ive tried king billy and huon, not quite good enough for Spanish traditional guitars. I got this perfect quarter sawn piece of bunya, from guitarwoods.com.au which wasn't too dense and had a tap tone like master grade spruce ...
