Re: David Churchill

That Ziricote wood looks absolutely awful! It is so dark, and has all those wiggly black lines in it. Some "master luthier" this guy is! He should have bleached the wood to a nice blonde color, and used some wiggle remover (hair straightener) to tame those lines. Other than that, it looks OK. Denni...

Re: Rate Bob, Kim, Dennis and Martin as Luthiers

Unfortunately the poll is set up to include Bob and Martin and Kim, who don't make wall hangings like I do, and therefore I was unable to select that option.

I would, however, be honored to be included in a group called the "Bad Dingoes" including these guys. I'll play tambourine.

Wow Mario is a dead set squeezer. He is going nuts on poor Dennis about his wall hangings :P I find his rants hilarious. I reckon he is on the gear for sure. Col They must be some wall hangings. Hey Dennis....some pics please of your prize winning wall hangings. Please, I love macramé, post some pi...

Re: New Luthier's Forum - LuthierforumAustraliaNewZealand.co

"Any press is good press" applies here. This veracity-challenged windbag has already gotten too much attention. It was just important to note that this liar Mario impugning Kim's character needed a public comment in this thread. Kim has more integrity in his boogers than Mario has amassed in his lif...

Re: Wipe-on finish for acoustic guitar

Is Liberon Finishing Oil available in AU and NZ? I have a quart, and plan to try it soon (so I can't give a roaring recommendation, yet, but the instruments I've seen finished with Liberon look excellent.) A number of luthiers like it better than TruOil. Dennis p.s. Oh wait, I did a bit of research,...

Re: New Luthier's Forum - LuthierforumAustraliaNewZealand.co

Oh, I shouldn't bother, but for the sake of anyone that gloogles AFLNZ LMFAO or luthierforumaustralianewzealand, they should find this thread first. Ironic that Kim (and I) caught Mario breaking into the private message system at Mario's forum - then he lied when confronted about it, then "banned u...

Re: spraying contact adhesive

Cheers guys. This is a new business venture my dad and I are under taking. We are building about 100 doors month for shipping containers hence wanting to use a spray system :-) Are there any special guns we can get or do we just use cheap ones? Thanks for the help! The contact cement that is on the...

Re: spraying contact adhesive

I agree with Bruce! Although I would place the contact inhibitors 199.5mm apart, not 200mm. :~) If you can find a set of cheap, plastic window blinds (typically used as horizontal blinds), they work really well as spacers/slats, rather than sticks or dowels. (I have used sticks and dowels, but it is...

Amazing lot

In between fighting fires in places and heavy rains in places, you guys manage to pick up the pieces and move on...and maybe even build an instrument or two in the hiatus between extremes. You're an amazing lot, and - even though you may be used to adversity - I wish you moderate weather and more ti...

Whatever happened to...Lutec 1000 free energy generator?

One of these guys is in (or from) Cairns. I'm wondering what happened with them (or to them) and their invention. I want one.

Re: Cutting Frets without Template? - Ukulele & Mandolin

Using a 25.34 scale, starting from the 10th fret would yield a 15.103" scale (.353" too long for a 14.75" scale, but mighty close to the 15.0" concert scale) starting from the 11th fret would yield a 14.222" scale (.528" too short for a 14.75" scale) but, using the Martin 24.9" scale you have, and s...

Re: Cutting Frets without Template? - Ukulele & Mandolin

I fretted a few fingerboards correctly without a template, and a couple incorrectly. Perhaps the chalk dust in a razor line scored would have prevented my errors. I used a "4H" (hard lead) pencil, sharpened to a fine point, and made a teeny-tiny dot on the wood, at each fret location. The mistakes h...

Alan, try adding the "http" part at the beginning http:// www . hamleyfineguitars . com If I write it out correctly, the forum software will "interpret it" correctly, and not show the http part, but try adding it all. Jim, (DarwinStrings) is in the mood for falling in love with talented female vocalists (that may or may not also possess playing and composing skills.) Good luck not falling in love with Sarah Jarosz . Song up in her head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdM89_88cdM (that girl don't know how to ...
