I didn't think of it was a pro/amateur suggestion but rather a member/non member thing. Making a sub-board that isn't public so therefore not showing in google searches has some attraction.
I would image if you're a member you would still have access regardless of how you view yourself pro/am-wise.

Re: Forum section for business
I think it would be a good idea.
I have left most fb luthier groups as too many participants and under unmoderated threads, means you have to sift through off topic comments.

Re: New workshop to be
I had thought I would build an external enclosure for the dust extractor. I am bit over the noise and the heat it generates, but I hadn't thought about the fact it could be sucking climate controlled air out... I had thought I would build it directly on the otherside of the machine room to reduce du...

Thanks Peter!
Nigel I will send you a DM. I have been getting Andrew to spray my guitars (I do the sanding) but I know he's totally over it.

Re: New workshop to be
If the whole area is humidity controlled then I guess there's less requirement for a separate wood store. For me getting the shitloads of wood out of my main shop meant more room for building....  I would have get shitloads of wood first. My modest stash isn't going to clog much up

Re: New workshop to be
First step....assign one room as a dedicated wood store. If the whole shop is humidity controlled, do I need a room for wood store. 50sqm isnt much space for teaching. Especially once you divide it up into rooms. It might do for 1:1 teaching but will struggle for much more then that considering sep...

New workshop to be
I'm pretty excited, I've just gone unconditional on a house. It is a high set house with an under height "built-in" which I intend to convert into a workshop (53m2). While I wait for settlement, I am busily watching youtubes and reading old threads about dust control, soundproofing etc. But I would ...

Thanks for sharing the vid. Excellent work Trevor and Tricky. I have a few of Pete's sets from that tree, such amazing wood. I also spied an end wedge jig I might have to spend some time making too

Re: Website research
Thank you all very much for the replies. Thanks Steve for your PM, it helped clarify some thoughts. I think for the moment, I intend my site to be basically just a gallery and ordering info. While I got my domain a couple of years ago and put up a simple landing page, the websitetaps traffic from in...

Website research
Hey all, I am starting to think about expanding my online presence from just an instragram account to a website etc. I would really love some recommendations on websites to look at. So, is there any boutique builder's website you think looks/works well? Or even one's that don't work and why? What do...

Re: Guitar sides
Another advantage is very flat sides across their width which in turn should lead to a good binding channel with less work. I am thinking of giving this a go with my most latest build. Amboya outta and kauri inner

Re: straight dovetail
I believe a lot of archtop makers use a straight or near straight dovetail but then they rely on the fretboard extension to set the neck projection.
