Electric Guitar Body would be fine but it would need to be 360 wide while maintaining a thickness of 50. Alternatively a matched pair for a carve top or a drop top would also work.

Qld Maple
I have aquired a piece of naturally dried Queensland Maple. I would like to ask the forum members if they could give me some advice to weather the piece could be useful for guitar building. It is crack free, 600mm long, 55mm thick. I have marked out 200mm on the end. My idea is i may be able to get...

" American guitar buying taste" I think the tenor of this topic started off as a purely empirical adventure into the merits of potential tonewoods. "American guitar buying taste" (as Rick so eliquently threw into the mix), whilst being a measure of market choice in America is an entirely separate to...

There are many woods that are probably suitable for a range of guitar components. The key thing as I see it is TIME! There are benefits to made from testing the full range of tonewoods from aesthetic, financial and constructional points of view. With a standard measure or datum point you could compa...

Tiger Myrtle
Hi James, Tiger Myrtle and Myrtle come from the same tree. The tiger pattern occurs in a very small fraction of Myrtle trees with the colouring/figure starting at the base and working its way up the trunk. Working properties for both should be very similar. The only confounding variable in Myrtle th...

Martin: This is a 3" Hitachi Resaw bandsaw. It is currently under powered and really needs something like a 5- 7 hp motor. I can achieve a 12" cut. All the componenets of the saw work well except for the blade guide under the table which are difficult to access and adjust. I am working on some alter...

Bandsaw blade sharpening with the dremel jig
Okay Guys Here is a little device I have put together which enables me to resharpend my stellite tipped blade. In doing this I have saved money and also extended the service life of my rather expensive blade ($300-$350). Cost of the jig would be $90 - $100 for the dremel plus a pair of high quality ...

Well Bob, I think you have pretty much covered the bases on Native Olive. I would however add that Native Olive tone changes quite dramatically as it seasons. Sanding is an issue I have tried to cut the sets as thin as possible to reduce the amount ot be removed. I have only built (3/4 built)one Nat...
