Thanks for posting as well Nick. I'm looking at this with a keen eye as it solves a lot of things I don't like about my neck joint jig. I went the route with insertable templates that work well, but alignment is a PITA.
Nice work there!

Such a hoot! I am glad someone had the "sense" to answer the way they did. Gotta draw the line somewhere. That map looks a lot like some county maps here in the states. OK, I may be exaggerating a bit, but "death valley" is a tourist draw here in California. Oh, and Burning man, next door in N...

Never went to see him although thought about it many times and always talked myself out of it... http://www.anzlf.com/phpBB2/userpix/244__1.jpg Don't forget his 'horn style' body, with deeper upper bout. Maybe you should have opted for his ac...

My "first book" was Arthur E. Overholtzer's which I got around the same time as David Russell Young's book. I have a 12 string built in DRY's 'style' from 1982-83. The epoxy neck join is fine but has always been neck heavy, go figure with a walnut neck, 12 shallers and that steel bar! :o But the rea...

Dave; I can feel for ya... Perhaps the best course is to wait a bit and see what happens. If the crack remains the same, a splint might be called for if you want to save the top. If it closes up, then perhaps something like Martin suggested will be fine. My money is on the splint, as it looks like a...

Cutting veneer strips
I came accross this idea on the internet (Joe Woodworker, I think) Anyway, having been frustrated by the results of cutting thin strips with a sharp edge, I thought I would take a chance and make one. Pretty standard jig stuff, base is 1/2" ply with a simple pine runner that fits smoothly in the tab...

Lillian; As a 'rightie" I can't say this is the right side, but welcome to this side either way. I looked at the Stew-Mac templates trying to understand your problem. You have the templates that use a router/pattern bit??? Since you are using a square I 'm guessing you consider one side of your neck...

Just a thought guys, but if you are having problems "tracking down T-track" in the Oz, Maybe try a local metal retailer/distributer. T-track seems to me could be a standard extruded Aluminium product that some metal retailers may be able to stock or order. I used to purchase metals from shops and th...

Maybe its just my old eyes, but I'd say if you are going to french polish, why not seal the wenge with shellac and then use the traditional pumice filler? Considering its a rosette as opposed to back & sides, seems like a pretty small task. Looks to me like you did an excellent job on the rosette. V...
