Re: Lockdown builds
Thanks Richard. I enjoy doing the painting and trying to get something nice happening. The single cutaway I'm building is almost ready for painting now, I just have to get it sanded.

Re: Lockdown builds
Thanks again Ian. It really only matters what you like, so if you thought it was black and you liked it that’s great, at least it’s helped you decide. Don’t forget some photos when you get going. Wayne

Re: Lockdown builds
Thanks Ian. I hate to tell you but the the hardware is chrome, must be a optical illusion because it does look black in the photos. Black will look great though. Wayne

You're right Mark, it's some nice figured black wood from Tim at Australian tonewoods.

Re: Lockdown builds
Thanks Wayne. I like doing the colour finishes. I've bought 2 more flame maple carve tops and I'm about 70% through s single cutaway PRS . Not quite sure what colour I'm going to paint it yet.

Lockdown builds
I finished 4 guitars during the last lockdown, one was the archtop i've already posted. One is a HRW classical with master grade Sitka top, it was supposed to go to it's new owner Tuesday but the courier didn't bother to pick it up so it's going Monday ( i hope ). The other two guitars are electrics...

Re: US Postal Service
I have a flame maple board coming, it was sent on the 30th of September via USPS, I got a message from Australia post today saying it was in Sydney so I'm pretty happy it's made it, I think I must've just beat the suspension.

Cooba looks even better now with some finish on it Wayne. Have you used it before? Just wondering what it sounds like.

Re: 16" Archtop
Thanks Mark. The spruce top came from ASW, the back and sides came from Tim ( Australian tonewoods) also the neck and bindings. I'm not sure where you'd get a huon top, I have one here that came from Pete before he dropped off the grid. You could ask Tim he might be able to help.

Re: 16" Archtop
Thanks Richard and Alan. I think the sound port does give the player that little bit extra, it does make a difference even on an archtop. I'm really pleased with those bindings, I've never used Marri before but I'm definitely using it again, I bought another 2 dozen pieces and have used them on the ...

Bendy ply
I've had it suggested to me to use bendy ply for linings, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it and also whether it's suitable or not.

Thanks Allen. I'll try it, if I get fish eye I'll just sand it back, it'll just cost some time.
