Re: Hardness of fretwire

From what I have seen It looks like it is drawn through a die to create the crown and tang then I guess a set of rollers to put the indents in ,not un like a knurl .

Re: Hardness of fretwire

I normally roll back and forth it will harden it a little these were done using the full length wire though,by the look of the crimp in the end of some of the Dunlop i would say it was drawn through a series of rollers to get it flat .

Re: Building a go bar deck and radius boards on the cheap

I have acquired some 6mm fiberglass rods 900mm long (200 off) :D with a job lot I have the 5 mm that I need, but these 6mm have a force of 3 Kg as they start to bend thought it might need a rather large go bar deck ,thing is it doubles at 450mm long :o might be slight overkill for gluing I have some...

I don't believe I have one of those health females  ,The archies I always liked the L5 ,I did once read that Benedetto was fitting a dovetailed neck in an arch top it got stuck without being seated and he just smashed the neck off ,no other way out. :(

Re: For those wishing to branch into repairing.

One either side of the truss cavity ,and an optimum angle to the break and forces applied to the head stock .In the end you don't see anything but a hairline at the back, most i can blend in with a touch of color it's just my take on things not gospel been over 7 years . :D

Re: For those wishing to branch into repairing.

Yep most hit the floor and I guess strung there is plenty of tension to pop the top ,I have had good success with two 5 mm maple dowels on the angle through the crack then the back of the neck has just a hairline mark and the top get's a black coat.I should have documented a lot more stuff :(

Re: For those wishing to branch into repairing.

Repairing can be fun. There was a young girl exiting a bus and her Yamaha got caught in the door ,she was extremely upset and blamed herself .So the shop said what can you do fix it Yep I said, there is a curved piece of wood inside and a guitar string connected ,clamped on the other side under tensi...
