Re: Long time no build

A touch of acetone will melt the CA if heat doesn't. If you don't want to buy bigger fretwire, you can epoxy the frets in. They will need to be bent pretty close to the radius. You de-barb the tang (probably not necessary for you) and use a tooth pick to get the glue (I used a syringe) in the slot. ...

Nice, well done Bob. FB is a steep learning curve. Although once I understood you can quickly build a heavily and simply sand it flat, it became much easier.

Very well done Wayne :cl How did you go bending the soundboard? Thinking about making that rosette shape hurts my head. I think you nailed the violin, soft burst colour.

Re: Long time no build

If you haven't flush scraped your bindings, if you get some heat on that binding either with an old clothes iron (pro-tip, don't use the house iron!) or the bending iron you maybe able to clamp them into place

Re: Side waves

We've had some limited success with using veneer softener and clamping the sides with a steel plate to an external mould. It helped reduce the waves but didn't remove them

Re: Classical Build (s) - Hopefully falcate!

Nope its the final saddle. 11mm off the soundboard. I havent trimmed back the cheeks yet so the saddle is actually flush now but won't be when finished. This is my way of dealing with the lefty righty problem. The saddle has a bit of blackwood glued either side of it. I plane it to get a suitable b...

Ah don't you hate that. Totally been there!

Is that just a temporary saddle? It looks flush with the bridge?

I wish that was me playing! That is the great Michael Fix.

Here is the final edit. Changed a few of the stills, slowed the pans downs. I am pretty happy. Corrected the title

First attempt at video editing

I have given video editing a go, mixing the audio, video, stills and titles. I would welcome any criticism, feedback or critique. Feel free to be honest about what you may dislike, I am not thin skinned. Cheers

Re: The order of things ...

I've tried a couple of ways, pined and then fretted, fretted except 2, fret first and then glue. Actually one of the ways I tried I liked the most was to glue the fretboard down, re-level the fretboard and then epoxy and clamp in debarbed frets. No hammering or pressing just pushied in

Re: Flame Maple & Red Spruce Jumbo

Hi Trent, Looks great! Can you please indicate what timbers are used on the headstock (flame maple and ?, same as forearm and belly bevels? - same as body binding?) How was the supplejack to work? I have some figured supplejack for a fretboard - looks nice, probably almost as hard as gidgee! Thanks...
