Re: ??? Glues and high pressure laminate
Its something between a cloth of patch and weaved fabric, at a glance to me it looked like a strip of carbon fibre laid up, super thin. Nope not coming loose, have tried sanding and scuffing and barely a mark, the few things I have glued with so far have just come straight of with little force Have ...

Re: ??? Glues and high pressure laminate
Way too much rotation.
The top is 1.23mm thick and the cloth patch takes it up to 1.45mm thick total

Re: ??? Glues and high pressure laminate
Do the Martin mod? Ask them what glue they used? Have with no luck, the issue is the hpl is lined with some type of fabric which I cannot get off, the newer ones don’t have the fabric and the wood is epoxied directly to the high pressure laminate, so I need a glue for wood to impregnated fabric, I’...

??? Glues and high pressure laminate
This is a question I’m putting out there, I know quite a few builders on this forum use carbon fibre braces and so forth and I have seen Trev comment on a fe ideas. Got a Martin guitar in at the momment with high pressure laminate top, the top is 1.2mm thick and it has no bridgeplate no tone bars or...

Re: September repair guides
Wish I could document every repair I did, but it’s quite surprising how much work goes into collating a repair and then uploading and writing it up, so have sort of set a target of no more than one write up a week

Re: Double Bass Build
I do like how you have approached the build, with inner cross supports for the build and so forth, extremely neat.
Will be impressive when finished.

Re: Starting a start up
Without a reputation to start with you have to drive an interest. My recommendation, on your next personal build take lots and lots of photos, if you have a family member you can use even better, then you take those photos and put them onto your facebook "business" page, not your personal page, do t...

Re: Flat sawn timber for SS Acoustic neck?
I am sure many necks survive well made from flat sawn wood, however, I always find the necks that I am repairing for warpage are typically the flat sawn ones. I would consider putting carbon fibre strips under the board during the manufacture for an awesome string neck or as Martin said, laminate th...

One of those you get what you pay for things, the one you link is really for hobby stuff, using it on a commercial scale, means it has a very limited life.

Very good, sometimes it’s too late, had one guitar that I couldn’t resurrect, man that drove me nuts that one. Back to wood finish, and it was gorgeous at that point mi us the white haze everywhere.

Spray a mist coat of thinners over the surface, it will hopefully soften it long enough for the moisture to escape
