Re: Time to buy my first router - Any tips

Tim ,, if you're into solid body routing i'd say you need something with a bit of guts, Look at something like a 1/2'' Makita or Hitachi packing a couple of horses, these makes are good quality and value for money. Cheers Rod.

Re: bindings for soprano

Ray, are you using a bending iron to get'm to shape or even just a bit of sream? Stu mac's bindings are about 1.5 mm i think, should bend ok with a bit of heat. Cheers Rod.

Re: Mirrocat 3220

Thanks for the info Bob and Allen,,pardon my ignorance Bob, "100% reduction"? does that mean 50/50 laquer and thinners? And what size nozzle, if the product is thinned more do you reduce the size of the nozzle they recomend? i've got 1.2, 1.4, and 2.0. The reason i'm sounding a bit unsure, even afte...

Mirrocat 3220

Hi all,, I've purchased Mirrocat 3220 to finish my next couple of builds, i have a data sheet but just need to ask those who are familiar with the product their opinion. Data sheet says to only thin up to 30%, use a 1.5-2.0 mm orifice on the gun, use one sealer coat and two top coats, only use mirro...

Re: curly maple progress

A bit of a set back in the Rocket camp, i set the neck yesterday, and in the process managed to damage some of the burst in the heel and cantilever region, nothing major , just annoying so had to remask in that area to touch up.I'll use my recently aquired airbrush kit, shouldn't be too many dramas....

Re: curly maple progress

Well thanks for the positive feedback, i'm very happy with the way this build is turning out, i must say i was very uncertain of myself when aplying the burst, anyway it's turned out ok so far, thanks to Nicko's sujestion, and how to apply the stain to highlight the figure in the timber. Cheers all,...
