Falcate

In the books you speak of making a classical guitar with falcate bracing but the plan included with falcate is steel string cutaway, how would I incorporate falcate bracing into one of the classical plans and which body do you use?

Re: Linings (Kerfings)

Not sure how those kits come but if you have any rosewood offcuts from the back and or sides you could consider laminating these offcuts as oversized linings as well as the Mahogany between the soundboard and sides. I believe they come with pieces big enough to have extra, what would be the advanta...

Re: Carbon Fibre

Would a regular 5 minute epoxy work for laminating CF fabric and walnut together for a bridge?

Linings (Kerfings)

Hello, I am ordering a guitar kit from LMI and choices for linings are:
Basswood
Mahogany
Spruce
Western Red Cedar
which of these do you think will work best for top and/or bottom linings for a classical guitar with a Engelmann spruce top and East Indian B/S?
Thanks

Is it possible to do it at the same place? What would be the cost per student?

Re: Carbon Fibre

I have some 75mm wide cf tape that is called 200gm/sqm. Can't see much difference between 198 and 200. Looks about the right size. Most hobby/model shops have this stuff. For hobby type applications this cloth seems the most common size/weight. You only want a simple weave, not bi directional or tw...

Re: Carbon Fibre

Hi Trevor I am new at using carbon fibre in any form other than CF/epoxy preformed. In the book you call for using cloth and strands from "cloth woven from 198gm/1000m yarn" I can't find cloth listed in these terms but I can find plain weave 198gm/m2 woven from 3 k tow As far as I can work out 3k t...

Re: Equation 4.5-7

I have to tell everyone, when I came across this equation I almost threw in the towel thinking I could never do this much math as it's like an alien language to me. But with Dr. Gore's help I was actually able to enter the equation into Excel and enter the correct variables and after a few tries, it...

Re: Equation 4.5-7

Thanks, I already see where I have made an error. I thought the "0.5" was a multiplication process like "0.5 times x" I know I am mathematically challanged  ! To make sure I understand another part of the formulae, on the top line "fa2" = vibrational stiffness value multiplied by LL (long grai...

Equation 4.5-7

Hello to all, I am new here. I got the Trevor's books a few weeks ago and have been studing them intensely. I really suck at math :?, but I was able to figure out equations 4.5-2 -4.5-4 using table 4.5-3 numbers and checking the results with the table's results, in the "Design" book. The problem is ...
