Welcome Andy to the forum. I am also looking forward to see some of your woodwork. From the pics you have posted so far you have your shop nicely setup.

Re: Townsville Floods
G'day Bruce, Nasty business for many. We had no flooding issues through our home but many of my friends did. So we where spared and very lucky as on the Sunday night the water was lapping at the bottom of the house slab. My workshop is not on the house slab so it come very close to flood. That was t...

Re: Neck angle
Ok Martin that's the advice I'm looking for. I have enough information to build a Torres inspired smaller Classical but I would like to use a truss rod and build traditionally on a solera. I have just found my Xmas present the Jim Williams Book.
Thank you

Re: Weissenborn issue
G'day Kerry,
Have you changed the strings.
If you haven't as you have put more tension on the string it a dull part of the string is sitting in the nut and will cause a dull tone.
If you have changed strings check for residue in the nut slot.
Just my two bob worth.
Cheers

Hi Martin,
Do you build with a Spanish Heel and also install a truss rod?
If yes could you point me in the direction of some reading fodder please?
Cheers

Re: Spruce/maple 1864 Torres 'inspired' classical
Very nice indeed, beautiful work.
I would like to experiment like yourself and build a few Torres style classical guitars.
Would you mind if I PM you sometime and ask a few questions about your build?
Cheers

Re: Pinless Acoustic Bridge
Morning Mark, Great questions there mate. From my research I believe the split saddle design is for better intonation. The two saddles allows the small one for the two plain strings the ability to provide a generous compensation length and angle. The break angle is also very good yet the total heigh...

Re: Pinless Acoustic Bridge
Hi Jim thanks for your response. I would be very interested in your drawing and would appreciate a copy. I was going to elaborate further on my question as it seemed like no one was going to chip in. My build is a Mini Maton sytle guitar. I have had two in the shop over a week with the bridge rollin...

Thanks everyone for your input.
Thanks for the pics Graham I eneded up doing the same modification and the jig will now cut all Ukulele soundholes and rosette channel sizes as well as the guitar work it was originally designed for.

Thank you Graham and Allen for your suggestions.
I see Stew Mac have a new router dremel setup that will do what I want but I will do as you suggested.
Graham a pictures are always great so when your home I would like to see what you have designed.
Thank you

Stewmac Rosette soundhole cutter jig
Sorry if this has been done before but I can't find much help on the net for modifying my old 3 inch, 6 inch rosette cutter so I can cut a 2 inch ukulele sound hole. As you see in the pic I have a piece of nice wood to make some guitar and ukulele rosette tiles out of. The old jig will do all channe...

Yep, great looking little guitar.
There is always something intimate for me when playing a small parlour size guitar.
Your design, rosette, body shape and wood appointments are simple and elegant.
Beautiful little guitar.

Re: Les Paul Style Electric Guitar
Thanks for your comments Wayne.
My first effort was a disaster as I got the neck set all wrong and a few other issues.
So I cut the neck out of the first body and tried again.
Learnt lots from the first build and went to School on my mistakes while building the second body.
Cheers

G'day Bruce, Thanks for your comments mate. The back neck an sides are all Queensland Maple. The top was a 5 mm figured Queensland Maple set from Malaney, Qld. I haven't started the FE17 yet. Re: Les Paul Style Electric Guitar
Thanks Wayne. The tailpiece was tricky however more time consuming than anything else. A mould was made for the radius so that part is easy now. The guitar was built from the LesPaul single cutaway plan with chambered body, f holes and the brass tailpiece. Many of the 1950s Les Pauls had a brass Tra...

Les Paul Style Electric Guitar
This guitar is a Les Paul style electric, f holes and chambered body with a tunomatic bridge, Indian Rosewood appointments and a home made brass tailpiece. The headstock is slotted and the guitar is nice and light in weight. This one is my second attempt as the first was a proto type and there where...
