Re: straight dovetail
I'm with Alan. A mortise and tenon joint is the way to go. I've built 3 archtops with that joint and had no problems, it's a much easier joint to do than a dovetail. I also access the bolts through the jack hole with a steel rod with an allen key welded to it. Wayne

Re: Carbon Fibre Rods for Acoustic Guitar Neck
Hi Wayne. You can get 6mm x 4mm from Australian carbon fibre there's a minimum order of $30. They come in 1mt lengths. I usually buy about 20 lengths then they last for a while. Wayne

Re: Vendors and Suppliers
I've been speaking with Tim over the last few months while he was getting organised, although he hasn't got everything listed yet he's ready to go with most stuff. He's a great bloke and happy to help if anyone has something specific they're after. He's helped me out a few times with special orders....

Very nice Trent. What's it sound like? I'm almost finished one with the same timbers and the b/w came from Pete too and the sap wood is almost identical.

Re: Knob Inserts
I made some knobs a while ago. I used brass inserts, I drilled a 6mm hole to go over the shaft then I glued that into a wooden knob I turned on a lathe then drilled through the side and threaded to take a grub screw to lock it in place. Hope that helps.

Re: Epoxy, brushes, CF tow, oh my!
Liked Trent I use botecote and have found it to be very good. Less is more with epoxy, don't use too much or it'll be a real mess like Trent said. I bought some tow on eBay and am still using it, probably done around 30 guitars with it and still plenty left. Wayne

Re: Indian Rosewood Bridges coming off Cedar and Pine tops
There's no reason not to make some clamps that will fit, I made some for a baritone uke, I have plenty of stewmac bridge clamps but the but the bigger ones were too big hence the reason for custom size clamps. I use EIRW bridges on all my instruments and have never had a problem, I always use titebo...

Re: Gluing help please.
Epoxy on bridges isn't ideal but sometimes it's the only option, I've used it on bridges a couple of times when I've had to. I think in your situation your options are pretty limited. Wayne

Not really Joel. I had a template about the right size given to me by Alan another forum member. From there it was a case educated guesses and and picking Alan's brain.

Thanks Mark and Wayne.
I'm thinking of maybe doing one with a carved top when I finish the two guitars I'm working on.

B & G style guitar
Finished this guitar recently. I'm pretty happy with this one everything went smoothly for a change apart from a hiccup with the pickups which got sorted out fairly quickly. Timbecom in Melbourne are good for tools, I like the Incra centre ruler and protractor, they're fairly reasonable for quality stuff and have a large range.

Could also stain the whole neck with some brown dye, might disguise it a bit. But like Martin said it's not that bad. Wayne
