Re: Monterey Cypress

Hi Andos some progress pics of a baritone uke using Georgia Luthier Supply plans. Macro top back and sides with jarrah bindings. Pity about the knots in the macro over there, over here ours is straight grained and knot free.  Got mine from Pete at Curly Timbers. Macro uke1.jpg Macro uke2....

Re: Plans - Small Nylon Stringed Guitar

Hi Pete

I also don't wish to hi jack this post but are you building the FE 17
in the traditional method ie. with a Spanish heel on a solera? If so
why do you need a body mold?

Baritone Uke strings

I have just finished a baritone uke using the Georgia Luthier Supply plans for a 14 fret baritone. I built this uke for my wife who has a soprano uke and we decided to string the baritone uke in re entrant tuning high gCEA as per the soprano using Aquila 23U strings. Re: The Questions We Never Ask

There's a few local luthiers around here. So she'd probably contact them and they'd probably get first dibs on the good stuff and the wood stash I guess... lucky buggers. Maybe I shouldn't be saving up the best wood for those future special projects!
I must keep in touch with your wife Pete :D :D

Whilst they are not online data bases Wood in Australia by Keith R Bootle and Australian Rainforest Woods by Morris Lake

Beefwood - Grevillea Striata

I have inherited two slabs of timber said to be beefwood. The timber was acquired in Emerald, Central Qld. The density of one slab is approx 955 kg/m3 which puts it in the range of Grevillea Striata. I am thinking of using this timber for back and sides on steel string and nylon string guitars. Woul...
