Re: "Rose Cliche"
Cheers mate. I get the feeling that even a Cat 5 cyclone would slow his determination Alan.

Re: "Rose Cliche"
This just came up on Facebook, nice to have a guitar in the hands of such a determined young man. He has worked out that while he is still in high school he can use his passion for music to make more money than his mates do as McDonald workers. His ambition is music, music, music. http://www.youtube...

Re: Rosewood and CITES
Size of the tree might be a problem though. Or maybe someone should plant a rosewood plantation in Queensland. Not that it is much of a indication of what might happen in QLD but the D.Latifolia in the Darwin Bot. Gdns. is a slow grower, maybe slower than in it's home and also in the examples I hav...

Re: Faking the mini
Almost a year since the last post and I am finally back on to this. I have only just installed pup today so have not got around to any comparison. I bought new disks that are not pre-wired and soldered in the coaxial leads then potted again using potting epoxy. I also improved my mounting jig as I f...

Re: In Lieu of Lurking
Yep Martin, Hank, no special spanner so remove the neck. It is a Mark Blanchard differential rod, so nice fine adjustment(not the "group buy" China made one) He high strength brazes them rather than welds them now and all S.S. parts

Re: Small bodied short scale guitar
You have a stash of that appendix II mahogany do you Peter?
If you didn't like the tension at E you could easily go up a semitone at that length.kiwigeo wrote:Nice work Peter. The 23-1/2" scale length is very short....what strings did you put on the instrument and how do the tensions feel when you play it?

Re: Rosewood and CITES
Damn good reason to tell someone no if they ask for EIR then steer them towards blackwood or maybe PNG rosewood.

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge
You don't get the last word sorry Hep Frank,Trent asks "Do you have any frequency response curves of your design that you can share? Also do you have any deflection measurement of the monopole mobility?" You answer in part with this "I cannot give deflection numbers because first, they are meaningle...

Re: Ukulele bridge, quarter or rift, etc?
Hi Jim Researching on the net has some suggesting that the perpendicular growth rings of quartersawn can create a splitting point in front of the saddle and argue for rift sawn. (I'm tempted to use burl and avoid the restless nights of torment and worry. Lol!) Nothing is perfect some woods split on...

I don't know what most do Derek but if you have quarter sawn then use it, dimensional stability is your friend.

Re: Most recent build
After a all nighter in the recording studio and many hours mixing and re mixing My team of sound engineers came up with this sample in the cloud from the lolly tin guitar.

Re: Most recent build
Ammmm, your point is what Frank? I am surprised you didn't ask for a spectrum graph, now that would have been good humour. The worst thing about this build it that since I strung it up yesterday (and ducked up the shop to get a glass slide as I have never owned one) I have done little else but play ...

Most recent build
Started this one yesterday. A mate has been threatening to build himself a cigar box guitar for too long now and never gets to it. He's a bit of a Harley man and this tin had been kicking around home for a few years after we received it as a gift, there was some sort of lollies in it so I guess that...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge
I forgot to mention while I was on the last post the last sentence in that second quote, it says..... "That means they push audio into the air and the box with greater linearity." Why the need to mention anything about that mode (long dipole) pushing audio into the box unless you are referring to th...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge
Just to be clear John, it is not my claim that Frank's design suppresses the long dipole that is Frank's claim. I am not sure if his design does in fact suppress the long dipole as I have seen no evidence of it. I am assuming that what Frank said is true for the discussion. Frank says two things, in...
