Re: Lutherie - the business.
If it takes you 80 hrs (2 wks) to build the guitar then your hrly rate is $1225 / 80 = $15.31 Now as your hrly take home rate is less than the australian award wage then you are still IMO a hobby business, because you cannot live of what you are doing. Sorry to digress but I just gotta. I just chec...

Same as Jeff. It's the only one I've had so not a lot to compare to. It gets a rattle up here and there. A harmonic vibration. It does my head in but the unit gets the job done fine.

Re: Gluing Indian Rosewood
Slightly off topic but I always shoot then glue immediately because I had joints that move enough after a day that you can see light through the gaps.
Alan, is it possible the joint moved enough that the glue didn't have anything to bond to?

Re: Unashamed plug - ANZLF Preferred Vendor??
One of my sparky mates had to go to one of the (unnamed) pizza crap houses and had to drill into a masonry wall above a prep bench that had a big tub of "pizza" sause on it. He asked the staff if they wanted to move it so it didn't get ground up concrete in it. None of them were interested. Guess wh...

There's an all Tassie Blackwood with rope bindings one as well as this Milo reso. I got this very nice milo from Brett at curlyk...

Re: Arbor Press Advice
I would say the shaft will be hardened so you will probably need to find someone with a milling machine to do the holes wouldnt be expensive Dave I'd say it's not. In fact I drilled it out with a power drill. Might have even been a battery drill given the effort to get the dusty power drill out fro...

Re: Arbor Press Advice

Re: Spalted Resonator Uke
Miguel, there's no way I'd use that timber for the top on a regular uke. It has none of the qualities you want from a soundboard, that being light, stiff and even in consistency all the way across. It is light but it hasn't got the other two.
