Re: Rare Aria Pro 2 repair

Find out if you have a local supplier for "Weld-on 16" cement, it's a recognized glue in luthiery for plastic bindings. It's all I've ever used, tell a lie! I did use another Acrylic glue once and it turned out to be rubbish. There must be something in the recipe that these guys use that makes it wo...

Re: What's on your bench?

Thats a big call, making an assembly line after only manufacturing two basses to start with Steve He's been spending years dabbling away in his garage building many prototypes, getting an 'assembly line' approach to building them all setup (He's a consultant who travels much of the globe helping ot...

Re: What's on your bench?

As well as making the high chair I've also been helping this guy to get set up and producing basses. He's 'launching' at the London Bass show on the 12th of this month and considering he only had his own 2 completed basses when we first set the factory up, he's done well to get a dozen basses togeth...

Are you going to make us guess? Nice bench, by the way.......... I was going to say Kev's house training pet rocks........until he spoilt it with the real reason!  Here was the last thing I had "on the bench", made from rescued old Rimu bookcases our department were going to throw in a ...

Re: Neck screws

Just as a general question, where can you find decorative screws of various sizes for pickguard and other visible parts of the guitar? Again preferably in Melbourne? These guys do screws and all sorts of bits you may need for guitarin if you want to order online, don't know about Aussie but in NZ t...

Re: Nitro in aerosol in NZ

Not sure if your dad had a "Spraystore" in Auckland or any other similar motor trade finish supplier but they can mix any colour up and put it in a spray can for you, if they can do colours then a clear is no problem I'm guessing. As they supply the motor industry the finish won't be Nitro but Acryl...

From what I remember Ervin didn't visit his own sub forum much and certainly didn't offer advice or answer specific questions as generously as Trevor does so maybe Bob removed the topic as it was dying a natural?

Whoops, been away up in Palmerston North for a week, sans internet (I've had a 3 month old grandson to fill the technology void). Yeah we were driving back from Timaru when the 5.7 hit so never felt a thing, we live over in Riccarton so a little way away from the coast so when we got back there were...

I actually quite like the 'unfilled' grain look you've got here Alan, makes a nice change from a high gloss finish. Oak body! How is the finished weight compared to your usual builds?

Re: Finish problem

I've had this happen a couple of times too and my fix is to wick in some thin superglue under the chips that have lifted using a tiny amount of glue on the tip of a toothpick, let it cure then re do the buff out steps from the 600 grit level to re-level the surface. Any 'stray' glue that may have fo...

Re: Fast Fret Good or not

Hmmm not sure about applying anything that contains unknown chemicals (even though it's a GHS product and trust/like them enough to use their strings on all my electrics). To me the only thing that should go on fingerboards is your fingers and natural oils so I'd be dubious about using anything else...

I've been, and still am, building a highchair for my recently born Grandson (the first of many,a wishful thinking wife tells me) using all the old Rimu bookcases and bench units the Department were just going throw out into a wastetaker. Haven't had much time for loofery things of late! :(

It's a sad fact Richard, that because they can churn a 44 gallon barrel of the stuff out cheaper than a pint of milk that they return HUGE profits and as such can talk the numbers when talking sponsorship to the likes of the "AB's". I put AB's between quote marks because these days they aren't reall...
