Depending on whos advice you take. I would take someone experienced i trusted with me whilst looking, and it is worth remembering how much a cheap crapper can be improved with say a bone nut and bridge and good quality tuning machines it makes an enormous boost to sound quality and playability. true...

Just agreeing with Dom really. I took the guard of an old Gibby years ago to help the lacquer age and prefer em without but it goes beautifully with that binding and the contrast is a great distraction and lifts the eye from the light top, excellent work Dave.

Just a footnote on the "pantograph or copier etc" If you were to make one of the arms say like a piece of meccano ( many yerars ago i used plastic faux meccano with holes predrilled ) then you can control the scale of the copy or replicate very easily and in exact mathematical formula.ie along the a...
