Re: **** Stewmac special on European Spruce *****

My tops arrived today. Grain count is fairly low as you'd expect for a low grade top. One of the three tops had some black material on the surface. Thought it was mold but the way it came off in the drum sander suggests otherwise. Overall assessment.....the Stewmac grading is a bit optimistic compar...

That is one honking big ass hole there. I loved listening to it and could listen to your guitar and those 2 pickers all day.
Yeah if you stare at that guitar for too long it feels like it wants to eat you! :o

Re: **** Stewmac special on European Spruce *****

Ive bought a few tops from them over the years and not had any issues. I suspect most of the Eurospruce comes from a small number of suppliers. I'll report back on quality of the wood Ive got on the way. Theyre AA grade so Im not expecting anything spectacular. Thats an exceptional price. However my...

Welcome to the forum mate. King Billy Pine top thickness.......this discussion might be of help: http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?t=4075 2.7-3.0mm would seem to be a reasonable target but actual thickness will depend on stiffness. I've found KBP varies a bit in stiffness....I had some really flopp...

Re: LMI is closing its doors.

Sad news... Maybe I'll order one thing from them before they're done. Something small-ish, maybe some fretting files ... What would be one thing you bought from LMI which you'd recommend ordering? For me the priority is spares for LMI tools Ive bought over the years. The Schneider gramil is no long...

Sad news. I notice Stewmac is going heavy on the emails and special promotions so obviously things are tough for all players. I've just stocked up on spare blades for my Schneider gramil....one of the best tools I ever bought from LMI. I remember a few years back LMI sent me a couple of radius dishe...
