There is a case to be made that Angry never actually qualified as a musician.

Re: Finish over true oil

TruOil is generally used on its own Paul. Ive done numbers of guitars and mandolins with it and they are fine. You need to leave it for a week or so to reach full hardness but it is pretty resistant to wear. What is your top wood, spruce, cedar? If it is your playing style then maybe a pickguard is ...

Re: sydney tourist info please ...

Its a bit of a hike from North Ryde to any beach. You will learn about Sydney traffic  40mins would be a good run to the Northern beaches from North Ryde. IMO they are all much of a muchness. I prefer to get out of Sydney altogether.

Re: i am making a oud instrument and need help

Dr Oud's book is a great resource. The Oud making videos Ive seen all seem to use his method which does not include a mould for the bowl.

Re: Addition to Padmah's temp chart

I remember walking around Edmonton admiring the ice sculptures rugged up like the Michelan man shivering. Next to me, my Canadian friend in a flannel shirt, jeans and runners. The temperature was about 20F. Similarly I was in Karumba one July where it was 22C and the locals were carrying on like it ...

Great link!, thx

Stradivarius was reputed to have produced 1000 instruments over his lifetime so its probably not that different to what his workshop must have been like. Still Im not sure I envy the hours it took to perfect that f hole cutting technique

Re: Tool steel

Having worked in the edible oil industry I can tell you definitively that all oils go through the same filters, 10um from memory. If it is clear in the bottle its going to be the same as another clear oil in a bottle. Some peanut oils will shed remnant protein after big temperature variations. It is...
