Also to add to whats been recommended above, ever so lightly sand the edges of the tear out so as to remove any reflective edges on the finished product

Re: UV cure
I dont remove the finish where bridge goes as i mask that area off when gel and clear coating, so its raw wood all the time, between flashing with the light, I peel the mask from the area, its not good to leave tape in when you are hitting it with the light

Re: UV cure
Complete resprays and first time builds have used it on, spraying and masking is no different, i dont however paint with the bridge on, i micro route the edge of the bridge and fit it over the top of the finish, same way taylor does

Re: Vacuum clamping bridges
I have the lmii unit as well, i think your problem is you need a larger vacuum reservoir, i have three vacuum pump units in the shop, the generic one used for bridge clamping cycles on and off, its connected to a small air tank, 20 litres and then that connects to the clamp assembly, typically it ru...

Re: Vacuum clamping bridges
I am a fan of vacuum clamping.
Just to clarify, you have a vacuum operated power switch, one that you can adjust for power on and power off?
Have you got a photo of your bridge clamp setup, I only have one vacuum line in use when bridge clamping, so curious about your multiple line comment

I personally never give consideration to the end weight on an acoustic build, an electric build, most definetly

Re: What a crazy year for repairs
At least it means you're making a living! Cheers Dave I always try to encourage others who may be doing it tough in the build world to enter the repair world. It has allowed me to put three kids through school, have a workshop, pay off a mortgage, buy cars and feed my family. Hence my attached walk...

Re: Guitar Inlay cutting Jig
The pantograph has 2 size options two to one and three to one. All that is required to change the size is to take out two pins and then reposition and slides the pins With the ability to go 3d, if you could some how add a pin somewhere that allows it to be 1:1 then you could use it for making and c...

Re: Guitar Inlay cutting Jig
Is it a two to one,
Be pretty good if someone local to you had a laser cutter, the you could get templates cut in perspex and keep them for your builds

Re: Airbrushing lacquer vs HVLP
I paint every day of the week, so my setup is way over the top, nothing worse than dust or having to paint something more than once There are days, where I am spraying uv, nitro, two pack, acrylics, so its not unsual for me to have 4 or 5 spray guns with different paints at any one time. Re: Airbrushing lacquer vs HVLP
Airbrushes are typically .35 or .5 nozzle with a spray pattern width of about 3cm, A small touchup gun 0.5mm will have a spray pattern of about 7cm A small touchup gun 1.0mm will have a spray pattern of about 10cm A small touchup gun 1.2mm will have a spray pattern of about 10-11cm as well With mett...

Re: Airbrushing lacquer vs HVLP
An old photo which i screen shot from another location, This is gloss of the gun on final coat, hvlp, viscosity, air pressure, technique, gun type all come into play when painting. We assume that we can paint as part of the trade, but a painter spends 3 yrs learning their trade, dont be hard on your...
