Re: air filter to minimise dusts
What I've got are extractors and filters, I wouldn't call them purifiers. Re: air filter to minimise dusts
I have two of the large carbatec room air filters. Well worth the money. They pop up on eBay from time to time
I also try to use dust extractors as often as possible

Re: Advice on neck repair
If it ends out that the joint is un repairable, the way many broken headstocks are repaired is to cut a scarf joint and simply make a new headstock. Not as simple as a glue up, but a backup plan to keep in mind

Cut from the same planks as the one above, here is a single pickup version I just finished up today: I used a slightly darker grainfiller on this one, gives it a more earthy look. It's only a very slight tint difference but makes a big difference in the finish item. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaih...

I won't bother with calling Wise again, I've called him twice now and both times he's "talked down" to me, in one call suggested what I was asking for didn't exist just because he hadn't heard of it and went on some rant he knows more than everyone, the other time I called him he told me electric gu...

Re: Lacquer drying box for cold climates?
In winter I use heat lamps. I find they're too hot to use during the entire spray session, so I turn them on for about half an hour to an hour after the last coat. I've also found I need the heat lamps about a meter away from the guitar as otherwise they can get too hot I find this is enough and the...

Re: How to bury ferrules? ...or is that ferals?
I use forstner bits for any work like this, control knob recessed, I also use forstner bits (saw tooth) output jack holes. I no longer let a spade bit anywhere near a guitar and the only time I use a brad bit is tuner, switch and pot holes. When I discovered forstner bits a few years ago it changed ...

Re: padouk
There's two types of Padauk at AFT, there's African and there's some other one. One is orange (African Padauk) and the other is more brown. Be careful asking for African Rosewood as depending which part if Africa you go to, they all have different names, for example wenge is also commonly called Afr...

On the topic if cutting, you're welcome here (Ballarat) but I'm on the wrong side of melb for you, its prob a three to three and a half hour drive, closer than qld but I'm sure there's some melbournites here that are much closer.

Allan (demonx) might have an idea as to it's workability as he just re-sawed some on his Laguna. I think he might be using it for veneer though, being an electric guy. http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5662&start=25&hilit=laguna Col I just replied to the ops PM Sorry I cannot offer any assis...

Graham and Tim are great. Allan give AFT a try they're in Port Melb and they might have some ebony, ( pricey i suspect ) Wayne http://www.afttimbers.com/productsindex2.htm I was at AFT recently and bought pretty much everything decent they had on site. They don't buy ebony anymore as they say it's ...

Re: Distinctive Timbers in Tassie
I recently bought a burl for good money from another Tasmanian seller on eBay, not the distinctive timbers. It was advertised as well seasoned for many years. When it arrived it was damp. Overnight it fell apart with all the moisture escaping. Its firewood. Completely un usable. The next day I quest...

I reckon it will too! I'm going for a very simplistic theme, but with some exotic timber choices. The binding will be only Ebony, the rosette will be simply Birdseye maple end Ebony. It's to have an off board preamp so there is no big panel cut into the body and I've asked for a cutaway body. It's n...

The build isn't officially meant to start until next year, but today I got a call to drop in and finalize some of the specs. Nice cutting, do you have a link to the supplier of the blade Steve If you're talking about me and the Resaw King blade, I ordered it through a small, local family business. I try to support them as the smaller businesses struggle with all the massive Bunnings and Masters franchises in town. Call D...
