Allen put me onto Whittle's wax which he was using on Uke's. I lacquer guitar bodies but use Whittles wax on the necks - durable, easy/safe application, and as a player, I love the feel.

Could mean a lot of things eg. player plays D/G/A in conjunction with capo anywhere from frets 0 to 5!Nick wrote:I'm pretty sure Yngwie Malmsteen scallops his across the board?
That is one pre loved guitar! By the look of the photo your customer doesn't bend much past the 7th fret!

Re: Arbor Press Advice
In an earlier post on this subject when responses suggested using a drill press, someone raised concern about possible damage to seals if often applying a lot of pressure, especially in cheaper units. I found a small drill press on a nature strip and use it instead of my good unit for pressing frets...

Hi there Jim Re Gurian, I had the same experience a couple of years ago with auto postage calculator. I emailed as Allen suggested - I can't recall the details but for some reason my inquiry went to two different people at Gurian. I got 2 replies. The first indicated the large minimum order requirem...

Hey Rod, well you know which method I use but I agree with you, I wouldn't use the barrel nuts on a 13 mm tenon. Is there a reason why you have to limit it to 13mm? Not too many consequences in increasing it to more common 19 --> 23mm. I haven't read much on the merits of one over the other, other t...

Re: installing endpin jack for K&K Pure Mini
Haven't got anything to add to the drill bit side of things, but assuming the guitar has finish on it, it can help to apply tape to the drill area to reduce the chance of finish chipping away around the drill hole. Frank

I'm surprised that you got such little change following use of the pre-amp. Just checking that you got inside the preamp and adjusted the 'hotness' of the input, as I am assuming that this feature exists on this unit.

Re Kingspan, I hadn't heard it called by that name, but it is also used for some on site caravan annexes. I looked into it for my new little shed. I found a supplier who gave me an indicative price of $40 sq metre. As you have pointed out, it would have been great as far as easy to put together, tem...

I just built a new, small workshop. Colourbond walls & roof. Particleboard floor. I used foilboard for insulation - 10mm sheets in walls and floor. 15 mm sheets in roof. It supposed to be pretty effective if you follow their installation guidelines. Summertime will tell!! Frank

I would concur, not to use the silicon additive, it will not only contaminate every spray job you do, it will piss every person off there after that may have to do a repair on the guitar. (Yes that would include me) Do you have a water trap on your spray line, spraying is very easy when you know th...

Re: What you sell them for
I have only made steel string acoustics.... For my kids, grandkids and very close mates, they are a gift. For wider family, eg nieces and nephews, once I sensed expectations of a freebie building throughout the wider family, I set a price of $700 (without case or pickup). That has managed the expect...

Hi Ray, I can't help you with your problem but I was interested to find out more about your Fuji minimite purchase. Which model did you get? When I developed 'the yearning', I felt the same way as you about my skills. I found a local woodworking club that had a couple of groups - one of them was into making small intricate boxes. I stayed with that group for about 6 months. Made 3 small boxes and it taught me a lot, in particular how to ...

Re: A press for frets
I use a little old rusty drill press I found in hard garbage - it works well. I recall someone once raising a caution in using your 'good' drill press for this purpose because of seals being subjected to more pressure than through 'normal' drill press use.

Re: Gluing side purfling to binding?
Hope this is what you are looking for.... Sorry I can't show pics to illustrate this, but here is my (pretty common) approach. Assume I want about 10 strips of binding 900mm long x 6mm deep x 2mm wide with BWB (0.6mm each) purfling - enough for 2 guitars and some extra in case of breakage - prep bin...

Re: Looking for System 3 Epoxy in Australia
Anyone know where I can get the System 3 epoxy line in Australia? I've struck out locally it seems, unless one of my suppliers can source it from down south and bring it in. If that's the West product, then Carbatec usually stock it, at least Carbatec in Melb does. If you are really stuck Allen, I ...
