Ok Martin that's the advice I'm looking for. I have enough information to build a Torres inspired smaller Classical but I would like to use a truss rod and build traditionally on a solera. I have just found my Xmas present the Jim Williams Book.

G'day Kerry,
Have you changed the strings.
If you haven't as you have put more tension on the string it a dull part of the string is sitting in the nut and will cause a dull tone.
If you have changed strings check for residue in the nut slot.
Just my two bob worth.

Thanks for the pics Graham I eneded up doing the same modification and the jig will now cut all Ukulele soundholes and rosette channel sizes as well as the guitar work it was originally designed for.

My first effort was a disaster as I got the neck set all wrong and a few other issues.
So I cut the neck out of the first body and tried again.
Learnt lots from the first build and went to School on my mistakes while building the second body.

The finish is hand rubbed shellac. I have a method I have ben improving over the years it is not a full shinny finish more satin.
