Re: Blackood 018 and Koa Concert Acoustic
Thanks Jeremy.
Lucky I bought the quilted set top back and sides in 2006.
It would be an expensive build today.
It is opening up and has a tone of its own.
I like the size it is intimate little guitar.
Cheers, thanks for your like

Thanks Mark for your comments. The blackwood, Lutz was not filled but the Koa guitar was with shellac and Koa dust. My Shellac finish is blonde flakes bought from LMI. I have tried many brands and like their brand the best. I sand to 400 grit and send lots of time on the prep before shellac applicat...

Re: Blackood 018 and Koa Concert Acoustic
Thanks Fisherman yes the all Koa is similar tot he all mahogany. The treble end is a bit thin and the bass is not strong but I think it needs to be played in but on the positive, long sustain. I did however voice it closing the the X a bit so it has a honky, bluesy tone. It is a copy of the parlour ...

Re: Spruce & Myrtle Concert Classical - Toscano Guitars
Hi Steve,
Lovely guitar mate.
The Myrtle is very special and looks a treat.
I could never get Ubeaut hard shellac to work for me.
I use the shellac flakes and like a satin finish on my instruments.
A good French Polish finish is an art form in itself.
Thanks for posting your guitar.
Cheers

G'day Kim I have been watching that thread on Delcamp. There is another thread on tension which is interesting too. G'day Steve, thank you for your time answering my questions. Torres Inspired Build
G'day to you all, I am researching and planning my next build a Antonio De Torres FE17 inspired Flamenco Guitar build. I have a few questions and observations that I would like your thoughts on please? Should I go traditional solera or bolt on neck? Bolt on would allow a truss rod, I like that idea....

Re: Acoustic Electric Amplifier Resources
Hi Stu, Welcome to the forum mate. I have a Marshall AS 50D acoustic amp and love it. You can purchase them for around the $500 mark and I run a weissenborn and acoustic guitar fitted with k&k mini western pickups and they sound great. The AER is certainly in a different class and are very good but ...

Re: Plans - Small Nylon Stringed Guitar
Hi Kim,
A Torres style small bodied classical would be an ideal guitar.
Sorry to hijack the thread but if anyone has a plan of the short scale, 12th fret to the body Torres classical guitar plan I would appreciate a copy as it is on my bucket list of builds.
Cheers

G'day Bob. I remember receiving an email from you early 2007 as you seen me lurking on the OLF and informed me that there was an Australian New Zealand Luthier Forum would I like to join? Re: Titebond
I buy my Titebond from Carbetec in Brisbane. It is a little dearer and costs $18 post to get it here but I think they sell a lot of glue so there is a small chance it is reasonably fresh. The last bottle a mate bought there for me cost $10 and saved post to Townsville. Cheap really as I only use one...

Re: Fretboard oil
Hi Martin, I have used the Dunlop Fretboard 65 product and have been using the same bottle for the past 5 or 6 years. The secret is to use is sparingly and buff it in. Every time I change the strings I keep the small rag used to apply the oil in a sealed bag and just give the finger board a rub over...

Unless you know the right person that has the experience to choose a top it will be difficult to build a good sounding guitar.
