Might be able to Alan, I will see a bit closer to the date. Very busy for me at the moment, trying to sell up and move house around that time too.

Re: Timbers for instruments
Interesting comment about the zebrawood. I've read that it is much like Indian Rosewood to work and in its tonal characteristics....Do you have a link re: the difficulties with it? I bought a chunk and have two back and side sets from it, so am interested. Cheers, nick Allan (demonx) might have an ...

Re: Timbers for instruments
Hi all, This my first posting after being a lurker for some time attempting to gain some knowledge. I need to fire some questions at the forum in particular the suitability of timber for things of a luthiery nature. A local is selling some timber in sizable chunks, namely english elm, osage orange?...

It looks good mate. There is a tonne of old furniture here made of the stuff and you get it cheap. I bought a dining table made in 1920 from a bloke for $50 and had to listen to a story of how his grandad ate his breakfast at it when he was a kid - I told him I was restoring it because I felt bad, b...

Re: Grain Filling with West Systems Epoxy
It's happened to me a couple of times. And several others I know have had the same problem. And I know that my mix was spot on, as I use a very precise digital scale to the .01gm. Always on small mixes. It's certainly not the cold up hear in Cairns either. The only fix is to scrape it off or any ot...

I like your guitar, looks like you know what you are doing. The rosette and bridges are nice, how many instruments have you built?

I thought about this technique to do some bindings, but read that it only penetrates the surface of the wood. How far do you think it penetrated?

Bote-Cote? Col? Hi Guys I have used Bote-Cote for it's intended purpose on my wooden canoes and boats, and it is very easy stuff to use, forgiving on the ratios, has no blush, and is not expensive. This stuff dries rock hard and is very harsh on edge tools and sandpaper, so be careful to mask up we...

Danish oil over Black furniture stain. I did test pieces to see how it would react and it seems to work well. When the customer asked for that I was worried the oil would lift the stain and it'd rub all over the player, but it seems I was wrong. Both the test pieces and now the guitar itself seem v...

You really set the bar very high with your instruments, and this one is no exception, it is unreal.
