Re: Plastic binding/purfling help....

Looks great Nick! Gotta love the Iceman shape (but then, I've got an Explorer, so maybe I've got "acquired" tastes?).
What shape is the headstock?
Will you have an access panel on the back for the electrics?

Thanks,
GregL.

Re: Gidgee/Mulga or similar needed

Hi Graham,

Did you get my email with 3 pics attached? I tried sending it to graham@mcdonaldstrings but I got a "Delivery has failed" message from MAIL-DAEMON, so I sent it again via PM but not sure if it went through?

Thanks,

Hi Graham,

I have some ringed western myall (I think it is Acacia papyrocarpa, not certain though), is that any use to you?

Thanks,

Looks great. I like the way you've tied it all together with the bridge and headstock motif.

Thanks,

Looks fabulous Bob. And thanks for persevering with the Blackwood sapwood bindings, I reckon they look great!
It's been very tough to wait 'patiently' during the build, and now it's finished it's going to be even tougher to wait some more but I know it's worth the wait!

Hi Nick,

Looks good! I too find it hard maneuvering things inside the body, accessing through the soundhole.
Any chance of more pics? ie the bottom piece.

Hi Jim, No answers, I'm afraid. I haven't used matlab before, nor have I tried to solve any of the "book" equations. However, if you could clear up a couple of points, it would improve my understanding and maybe help to find a solution. - what does an ellipsis mean in your code? Is it something you ...

Re: Cannot locate 'Gulf of Carpentaria' on Google maps.

Hi Dave,

If you flip the USA over, top-to-bottom, so that Florida is at the top right of your screen, then northern Queensland (Cairns, Cape York Peninsula, Townsville) = Florida, and Gulf of Carpentaria = Gulf of Mexico.

Thanks,
GregL.

Re: Aussie woods

Hi Geoff, I'm no expert, but here's what I would say: turning blank sizes - not usually big enough for top/back/sides/neck, maybe big enough for other bits Your wood: camphor - not so good for acoustic, maybe OK for electric guitar body Jacaranda - not sure (species?) hairy oak - not sure (species? ...

Hi Nick,

Moderne copy, eh? The plating looks good!
I think the Ibanez Moderne copy is not too common.
What do you reckon about the "standard" head shape versus the "proper" Gibson Moderne head shape?

Love the Southern Cross fingerboard inlay!
I can't quite identify the top wood from the photo, looks like it could be Western Red Cedar or Redwood like Micheal said.
Herringbone looks good too.
The blackwood has some nice figure, and the neck looks really curly!

Re: Plate problem

Hi Nick, What timber is the back? I reckon the only way it could "turn inside out" would be if it had a lot of moisture in it before you put the braces on, then lost a lot of moisture when it was in your drying box. I had a look at Byron RH figures on the BOM site and they seem to be pretty high lat...

Hi Allen,

Good idea!
I've been to Micheal Connors place dozens of times, and he's often helped me. But I don't want to slow his rosette cutter progress!
