Re: Carbon Fiber Use In Lutherie

Craig you do some of the most beautiful work that I have ever seen! :cl :cl :cl Kim yes but.... :D there are many examples of approaches and some notable builders who buy into the idea that the top real estate north of the UTB has potential to add value to the sound of a guitar. There are builders w...

Re: Carbon Fiber Use In Lutherie

Thanks Kim! Actually for my application here I am not after maximum strength. Instead I want to add more strength to the UTB but still have it flex slightly but retain some memory and return to it's neutral position. If a CF augmented guitar brace did not move at all we would not have a very respons...

Carbon Fiber Use In Lutherie

You are viewing a re-constructed thread by the ANZLF helping team. For more information click here . Recently I started using a bit of CF in my upper transverse braces and I will be very interested to see how the finished guitars sound. To my ear the tap tone is about the same if not slightly highe...

Re: Bracing on a King Billy Top

WOW Bob that is one beautiful job of bracing a top.

I agree too that there is a balance or symmetry that just looks like the guitar will sound killer.

Keep us posted on how she sounds - I suspect that you may not wanna give this one up.

Check out Ron's beautiful CS 336 http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?t=774&highlight=336 Dom I love that guitar and have arrested development from the days when Clapton played a 335 complete with Hari Krishna stamp on the back of the head stock with Cream and later blind Faith - my two all time favo...

I have 120 in my 25' dish and 80 in my 15' dish but I like the 80 grit better and will be replacing the 120 with 80 when the 120 wears out.

Yeah, I'm cheap.... :)

He has had it for over 6 months now and the only thing that he has had to do is put some gas in it every other month.... :D Interestingly this guy is a big guy too, 260 lbs, and he finds it to be very r...

Liam buddy what Jeff said: unslotted pins force the string ball more onto the bridge plate flat surface and less onto the edge of the bridge plate pin holes. The obvious benefit is less plate wear over time. The debatable possible benefit is more of the string is in direct contact with the bridge, t...

There are too many groups here that would object to the sexual reference. If you noticed even our CDs have "parental warning" ...

It's All About The Players!

One of the things that Rick taught me was that guitars are tools and it's all about the players. As mentioned previously a friend of mine cut an album that was just released this week. This is the group that had me be the photographer for the album pictures. My buddy, Eric stopped by last evening to...

Nice looking bridge Michael. I went through the bridge design need/process several years ago trying to find my own way and design. Back then I was in touch with Scott Van Linge too and he was very generous and helpful to me with this process. Before I started hacking any wood I made a list of goals ...

That's some beautiful Blackwood Bob my friend!! So you used Titebond to laminate the sides - interesting.
