Re: Travelling Blues.
Thanks folks for your kind words happy to make you all smile. I used a 8 1/4'' cone (biscuit bridge) from resophonic outfitters the standard 9 1/2'' was to big. cone is holding up well. The volume of the instrument improves a lot with the attack of the strings just like my reso guitar the more you d...

Re: Whats been keeping me off the streets lately
Hey Taff love the cigar box's and the banjo is interesting I was looking at a site in the states and the guy made several banjos with timber tops. Now I can't find it he had several sound samples that made for good comparisons. Bye the way Radio National into the music had a program today on the Ban...

Re: Guitar Strings
I recently brought a heap of different types of strings from this mob.
Postage was $30 and took awhile to arrive but strings very very cheap and they have other gear too.

worth a look.

Re: Fretboard finish?
I am currently building a fret-less bass and also wondering what would be the way to treat the fret board. The bass is will have an acoustic tone (hopefully) as it is an experimental Frankenstein build it will use round wound Phos/bronze strings the fret board is Indian rosewood. On fretted boards I...

Now, thats the sort of instrument I can relate too.
It sounded not to bad like a uke. You have inspired me to try a tri cone/can type build .

Re: And now for something completely different
Great stuff as always. I reckon you would have some sheet metal machines amongst the other great gear. I can see a flash metal body resophonic guitar coming from your skills at some stage Nick.

RIP Dutch Tilders
The fine Aussie blues man and great finger style guitar player passed away Sat 23rd April after a battle with cancer. I remember seeing Dutch one time in Sydney in the 80's I had never seen finger style playing before I had to leave early so I could go home and play my guitar it was so affecting. Th...

Re: Tuners and Strings for a Ukulele
I Like Aquilla nylgut have not tried wurth strings. I have tried some other cheaper brands and the don't stack up to the Aquilla's. You have to play them in, I reckon it takes a week of solid playing before they shine and they last for ages mind you I have only built uke's from silly stuff like ciga...
