Glad to hear you're on the mend, Craig (and Martin's sore bike riding date) Ooh yes, about the recon stone............. I couldn't find a supplier with my searches on the net within Oz, though I did find a few in the U.S. and one in the U.K. I went through here http://www.customluthier.com/shop/cart...

There's no doubting the gift for lutherie you possess, Martin. It matters not so much what's being built but more so the execution and definitely the end results. I'm glad to hear you've made your Dad so proud, just as you do to us all on this and other forums. Don't use a Floyd rose on this one tho...

Nice work Hesh , although I noticed a few specs of what may be dirt something similar on the padded table surface. Your hygiene standards are slippin' I've just finished cutting out this firebird motif out of recon. stone and ready to inlay into a wandoo board. Fun times . http://www.anzlf.com...

I'd probably resort to dropfilling dark stain into the pores to darken up the cutting paste, then drop fill with nitro.

I don't think the toothbrush would do it in hindsight, nor a pin or needle.

I'd be interested in hearing how others have tackled this problem too.

Thanks for the replies fellas. It's all sorted out now, after a few phone calls. For 100mm wide Hermes cloth-backed 80 grit on a 50 metre roll I ordered it from Abrasive products in Dandenong 9794 7311. The bloke was really helpful and happy to help out. Their price was $100 all up and a one ...

Abrasives for drum-sander

What is the preferred cloth-backed brand of abrasive you guys use and where can I get the stuff from ? I've got a twin drummy MS-25b from Carbatec and I'm wanting to source a 50 metre roll of 80 grit for the front drum. Carbatec stock Burgundy coloured Hermes paper which I've heard is pretty good bu...

I think it's a brilliant way of incorporating some of the more laborious and repeatable tasks into a build scenario. Kudos for going out there and setting up for it and going through the learning curve of programming as well. Well done Jason. It seems alot cheaper than I expected to kit out for this...

I think x-ray has a valid point in being able to pull out a pic or two of interesting or innovative parts of a build. As a resource these should be included I think. In which case, what if these ideas are inside the sealed box and not a part of the standard photos of the back, front, h'stock.... I t...

Thanks guys and Gal :D Michael was going to build this but his personal circumstances meant he was unable to, hence the reason I got the call. I'm glad he did as I hadn't built a tele to date and really enjoyed the different processes to my other builds. I'm sure he'll chime in. Jeez ...can't...

Start your own lute forum Martin.

How about Cutelutes.com.yadayada

You could track pics of how the young builder looked at the start and how much he'd aged by the time it was completed. Before and afters.

Well done Matt. A great design and easily used in other forms. More importantly, it is a simple design and memorable. Big points there. Congrats Allen and I look forward to seeing this logo alot more in the future outside this forum. BTW It was a brilliant concept for a design brainstorm. Alt...

I must admit had I not seen who was posting the Bass, I would have thought it was one of yours, such is the heavy influence of the Dyskin teardrop shape.

Got your workshop in order yet ?

I'm with most others and would prefer the forum stayed as it is, with e of an amalgum of many different styles, otherwise each would stay in their own little sub-forum and see less of the whole picture. I really like the variety you get on this forum and I also find that different acoustic styled bu...

That's great building Jeremy. Burst flows nicely too. :) No probs. with covers mounted with magnets. I have one nearly finished which would look great with magnets but the owner has asked for screwmount, which I'm more than happy to do for him. Both work well, it's just a matter of aesthetics. The o...
