You can pick up New Guinea Rosewood locally, and I've seen a couple of the tonewood vendors selling it as well. I've been going around to a local company that sells exotic local wood mostly as slab form to overseas markets, and they have heaps of wood that is found in the far north and New Guinea. I...

The response I got this morning tells me that the .01" is sold be the roll at 1000mm wide. I asked them about black, and what other colors were available. The response was natural (I can only assume this means off white) and yellow. They also said that they do not make the .06" in black. There web s...

They've got back to me, but as I suspected, English is not their first language.

I've replied with more specific questions and asking them for more details. From what I gather they sell by the kg. and shipped out of Singapore.

Will let you know more when I hear back.

Thanks, I'll try the local electrical places. I'll be surprised if they even know what I'm talking about. Cairns might be a small city, but when it comes to anything out of the ordinary, you might as well be at the south pole.

That's a heck of an idea for the head plates. Lots cheaper than ebony.

Where to get black vulcanized paper?

Where do you guys source the vulcanized paper that you're using? I've been using veneer dyed black, but would like to try something else. Anywhere in Australia?

If anyone is looking to do a group by I'll put my hand up and help split the shipping cost.

I put my name down for a group buy over on the OLF for some bridge pins. Would have like to get a bunch of purfling and binding strips, but the shipping just doesn't justify the savings of a bulk order.

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments. I've been doing some more set up on it today. Have the truss rod adjusted just right. It's a double action Gotoh. It's heavier than ones I've used before, but it sure does move a neck quickly. I will have to lower the saddle a touch more and I think tha...

For our friends overseas, the wood for rosette, bindings and neck were all salvaged as scrap from the bin at our local Woodworkers Guild. Apparently not nice enough for any one there  .

Yah, well Bob, it's been warming up a bit here in the tropics, and there were a few XXXX's goin' down this afternoon. I love the Cypress. This top was much stiffer than the last one I used, so I got to thin the braces a bunch more. It's only been strung up for 5 minutes before the photo shoot. I had...
