As soon as Bob mentioned the ANZLF forum the blood drained from the sawmill owner's face and his hands started shaking. No doubt there were images of Allen in his backless chaps and Hesh in his purple cowboy outfit flashing through the guys mind. Make no mistake...the ANZLF is a force to be reckoned...

Reminds me of a job I had in a Health Food Factory during my uni days. The factory was run by a really big German lady by the name of Mrs Hess. Apparently her husband had run off with a floozey so she really hated men...dont know how I ended up working there. Anyway one of my least favourite jobs wa...

Maybe Im missing somehting here.....but why do you want to put steel strings on this instrument. This guitar wasnt designed for steel strings.

If you havent made a classical before then this could be a good place to start.

Safety Information on chemicals we commonly use

Okay, heres the MSDS sheet for Z-poxy finishing resin. If you dont read same before using the product then at least read Kims recent post on his Z-poxy related health issues.

Yes I agree.....an HSE subforum would be a good idea. MSDS's for all the various chemicals we use would be very handy.

That raises an interesting question. What do you guys do for fire suppression systems/smoke alarms to protect your your stash. Smoke detectors tied into a fully monitored alarm system. I told the boss the alarm system was for the house and the workshop is just an add-on. She hasnt yet twigged that ...

Thanks for the update Allen,

Tell Bob if he needs a few more bodies to join the posse heading up to the sawmill Im in. The sight of Hesh in his backless purple chaps alone should scare the sawmill owner into coming up with the goods

Mining companies dont have any foresight. At the slightest hint of troubles they stop hiring and start firing. They then wonder why when things pick up again they cant find any experienced workers. The cafe I frequent here has a mining company upstairs. On Wednesday all the staff were down at the ca...

Very funny guys. The truth is the workshop _is_ full to the brim and Ive barely got room to move around same. The mining and oil/gas industries are also moving into one of their regular downturns so as usual I go into survival draft which means less money spent on the luxuries in life. On the plus s...

Put plan on top of top. Use a dress makers pin and pierce through plan into wood at strategic points along brace on plan. Take plan off and join up the pin holes with a pencil. Me..Ive never used a plan. The only template I use is one for the top/back. Bracing gets laid out using a ruler and bevel. ...

I agree Kim, The silly bugger should have grabbed himself a real sheep, shagged the dags off it, skinned the bugger and then donned the freshly vacated sheep skin. For brace dimensions.....try waxed paper over the brace and then mold some plasticine over the brace to get the contour of same. The wax paper protects the brace from the plasticine.

There are a bunch of articles in the GAL Big Red Books on measuring up instruments......

If youre using one of those profile tools with the metal pins....put some masking tape on the surface youre contouring to protect from damage. The pins on those things can damage delicate finishes.
